For those of you who may purchase an F10 in the future, the ASS can be permanently coded to off. I have not elected to do this, as on occasion, I do use the feature in certain types of traffic. It always defaults to being ON (unless coded OFF) but the button to turn it OFF is under the normal Start/Stop button so it is easy to turn off when starting the car. I also believe it is OFF when in DS drive mode. There are also ways of braking that keep it OFF. On the F10 forums it is either hated or tolerated with very little love.
