Mein Auto: 2007 BMW 328xi
2007 bmw 382xi -no power

Hi, I have a 2007 BMW 328xi and replaced my BMW battery about 2 weeks ago with an Interstate battery. It has been running fine until yesterday. I was running errands went in a store came out to get in my car and my remote wouldn't open my doors so I went and got my spare, same thing. Absolutly no power at all to anything in the car. I had to tow it to an automative garage which 1st they tried telling me it was my battery and I needed a new one. Then it was probably my altenator and this morning they said that I can't have the Interstate battery in there and needed the BMW one and that the Intelligent Battery Sensor may be the cause of what is going on. The were able to ground it, let it sit for a few minutes which I guess restarted it and it is working now although nothing was fixed. I have read a few forums about the Battery Cable Recall that is happening right now, which to me sounds more like my issue but I and called the closest BMW dealship, which is 4 hrs from me, they won't have the parts for at least another 2 weeks......Is there anyone out there who has any suggestions or idea's of what could be going on? PLEASE HELP

This is an issue I learned about through the forum. You must buy a battery appropriate to the car with the correct size and venting connection, and the battery must be registered to the car using a special tool.

No kidding.

The car monitors the condition of the battery and if you don't register it, you're screwed. ("Allow me to introduce you...car, this is battery. Battery, this is car. Shake hands and play nice together.")

Bite the bullet, make sure you have the correct battery, and have it registered or you will continue to have failures. There is a $300 tool you can buy to do the registration, but that may not be something you want to do.

I am far from convinced that this is a good idea, but since it's a BMW, "You vill submit - UND you vill enjoy it!!"
