Hot car CD problem

I just recently picked up a 2003 330i which I have taken in to the dealer today to have them look at a problem with the CD player. I live in Texas so the interior of the car gets very hot this time of year (even with a sunshield in place). The problem I see is when I get in the car the CD player will not play without severe distortion. When it cools down (15 minutes or so) it seems OK. The dealership's first response was that this is normal. Having just spent the past 15 years in Texas driving many different makes of car and never having seen this problem before I am somewhat skeptical. Anyone else living in a hot area seen this problem (Business in-dash CD player) ??

I live in Bakersfield (100's last week) with no problem. I do cover my car at work in the sun though.

I live in the Los Angeles area, and we regularly have summer days with temps up to 105 degrees.

I've never had a problem with my in dash "business" CD player due to heat.

Sounds like a line of BS to me.

Well, I notice warm CDs if I eject them, but my audio doesn't necessarily distort. I live in Texas too, and I'm driving a Jet Black 325 - so it's definitely hot. I get a lot of skipping, which pisses me off - but this happens in virtually any conditions. Generally, I'm very upset with the quality of BMW's stereo components - the CD player has trouble reading my CDs, the audio quality isn't very clear, and the speakers are rather underpowered. If I weren't on a lease, I'd be tearing the car up with aftermarket stereo components, because I'm not convinced that a HK system would be the end-all solution.
