I have a 05 545 with a 158000 and counting with some major and minor repairs done,
Oil leak alternator bracket, coolant tube repair, expansion tank, etc...
It drives great and hope to make it to 300000 as I plan on keeping it for a while.
If you decide to do the repairs check out ebay, I had to replace my adaptive headlights for mines and paid $510 a piece used but in great condition
I drive that area going to Charlestown when Im feeling lucky to gamble.
Happy motoring

The adaptive headlights + assemblies go for around $4k for both of them.

The adaptive cruise control module is 2k on its own, plus programming costs

The passenger seat sensor is 800-1000 to get replaced.

It's also due for its fluid flush
Not knocking you or your car (you may not be the orginal owner)- I think this is awesome that we have proof that the n52 is very capable of going 300K!! But..........it's all those techy/electronics's it seems to fail hence why I opted to not order any of those items in fear of exactly this- thousands to repair.

Congrats again on 300K - that's like 40-45K miles a year!!

When I started selling cars in the eighties', some customers wouldn't buy a car with power windows, mostly old folk. Now you can't buy a car without power windows. And the windows are seldom a problem.
In a few years all cars will be a closed system like BMW.

I think vanos may be referring to the engine electronics? On my car it's less the engine I'm worried about it's all the techy emissions systems, EGR metering valve, DPF system.

ON the engine O worry about the injectors and the turbos in the long term.

300K miles is great. When I sold my 98 M3 to a friend it had 284K miles so these cars are durable if maintained.
Congratulations...

I got a 06 325i E90 too. It only has 187000 miles on it... You can get the headlights for under 2k... Both of them... My passenger side airbag light is on too... The part alone is like $400. I wonder if replacing the coolant saved your water pump.... How beat up are your seats... 300K miles will beat them up!

Do tell. My car's previous owner said that the air bag light would come on for no reason every year or so and she would have to take it to the dealer for them to turn it off.

It came on this week.

Any chance it has to do with this recall?

The seat mat sensor (OC-3) recall is well known and described in many threads. Just search for more details. It is VIN-based, so you should be able to provide your VIN to a dealer and have them check if your car is part of the recall. Good luck.

Thanks ctuna.

Unfortunately the recall notice specifies 2006 sport seats and mine has the lowly standard seats.

I also have receipts from the previous owner showing that all four brake rotors and pads were replaced less than 10,000 miles ago yet my "brake" indicator light is aglow.

No doubt the Hyundai dealer that did the work was not up to the task of replacing the sensors or resetting the codes.

I want to get the cable and software to read and reset my own codes anyway. These two constant annoyances in the dash binnacle just give me a bit more incentive.

Thanks bbbuzzy, but from the pdf that ctuna provided it looks like non-sports seat 2006 models are not covered.

That pdf says sport seat in the beginning and something else.

that's not clear near the bottom.

Great to hear! This tells me you got a good one and took good care of it. I am at almost 200K with my e36 (I'm second owner) and no major issues since I fixed the stuff caused by original owner's neglect. Almost 100K with the e90 and only issue besides the recalls was a door lock. I believe BMW still makes a quality product but the owner must do his part. I would be interested if you decide to sell it.

Your better off keeping it as a spare , if your getting a new car.
The Things you need can probably be found and repaired cheaper at an Indy shop.
Congrats on the 300,000 miles, in the eye of an appraiser, it probably isn't worth much, and you will get pennies for it, if you decide to trade it in. However, in the eyes of an enthusiast, the car is worth so much more, and for that reason, I would keep it, and run it to the ground !
