X3 interior LED lighting kit

The X3 comes with really dim interior yellow lights. I saw an LED lighting kit available on BMWs website and my dealership for $130 (14 bulbs total). Wanted to know if anyone has any experience with these and whether they are 4000K or closer to bright white instead of yellow (2700 K)

Never tried them but have you switched your interior lights to the modern setting? They go from yellow to white after that.

I am also interested to upgrade to LED but i read some article about led's are more likely to short and spoil the electronics especially if there is no protection in place in the lighting circuit. I am not sure how true it is and how cases had been encountered for such issues.

When I change mine, it switches between a red-ish colour and a yellowy white colour.

Modern -> Classic or whatever. I believe this only affects the lights in the door handles and over the cup holder and then light that beams down from above onto the gear selector.

I have installed full led kits for interior lights and exterior (license plate and reverse lights) on my Hondas for a couple years and had no issues. The kits have come from Amazon retailers for a lot less. Can't imagine any car would have a significant issue.
