Recommended accessories

Several forum members have endorsed the cargo mat that BWM sells. And I've read that mud flaps come recommended for vehicles likely to see use in mud and slush. Which other accessories are particularly worth having?

I recently placed an order with Circle BMW in Eatontown, NJ. Prices shown include S&H, which worked out to be less than 6% of the total order:

82712149465 base support system 191.51
82732159030 ski support 29.47
82110017663 snow brush 15.40
82112210408 all-wx floor liners, front, set 82.62
82112210409 all-wx floor liners, rear, set 68.25
82162155852 mud flaps, front, set 42.15
82162155851 mud flaps, rear, set 42.15
36136786419 wheel stud lock set 29.55
36110421544 valve stem caps, Roundel logo 12.18
82110034722 license plate frame, slimline 21.56
51162219896 CDs/sunglasses holder 34.77
52212219905 rear seat storage bag 110.35
82110399145 sunshade 42.75
11427634292 oil filter kit 11.48

I decided to forego at this time ordering the following, with prices shown NOT including S&H:

82732209907 roof box 320 417.31
51472158365 luggage compartment pan 187.68
82270416591 clean bag 51.44
07510017866 engine oil, 5W-30, qt 6.70
61612158219 wiper blades, all-season, pr 56.08
61622990035 wiper blade, rear, all-season 18.72
82112210415 license plate frame, carbon fiber, slimline 69.26

I found Chris there in the parts dept knowledgeable and easy to work with. Prices, even after shipping was factored in, were for the most part the lowest I'd seen.

Why would you buy oil and wiper blades? those are covered under the warranty for four years..

I'm going for the roof rack, surf attachment, all weather mats (including trunk), metal pedals and an umbrella

I would only get the roof rack and ski holder. All the rest you could get much cheaper anywhere else. If you do decide to get all this stuff have the dealer give you 15-25% off when you show up to pick up your car.

I don't really think you need a license plate holder or valve stems. Those get stolen easy.

Where did you get the number for the sunshade: 82110399145 ? I'm interested, but when I plugged that number into the BMWUSA website, Accessories, the result was "not found".

Thanks, Vince.

I didn't order wiper blades and oil for the reason several here have pointed out, that I shouldn't need to replace worn blades or change the engine oil myself until my E84 (en route from its birthplace in Munich, by the way) turns four or so.

Wolfex, where could we find accessories and parts cheaper?

vbbuilt, Circle BMW came up with the p/n, saying that the sunshade was made to fit the X1. A quick Google search just now would indicate that it's custom fit to the 3-Series. Same windshield? If it ends up not fitting perfectly, I imagine Circle BMW will not hassle me about the return.

Geez, now I'm going to fret over someone making off with my valve caps!

I don't have a source for cheaper OEM parts. The heat shield I got was a generic one that works fine for me.

I bought a power ride edition, and have no need for most of the items. I bought that model because the car had all the options I wanted. I am looking to sell the roof box, ski holders and roof rails if anyone is interested? I'm also looking to sell the ski's that come with the car (I have not ordered them yet).

Not sure what shipping would be for the roof box but I'm sure we can work something out.

PM me if interested, the items would be shipping from Minnesota
