Mr Gusta's budget/hobo/high comp/e85/holset/ebay bottom mount build

still waiting on a few things, I will post pictures (sorry if some of you hate the hipstergram pics)

m52b28 crank

ebay m20 cxracing rods

ebay tial rep Bov

new glyco main and rod bearings

f1 racing gripforce stage 4 unsprung 6 puck disc with self adjusting pressure plate.

weird looking t3 externally wastegated holset hx40
compressor
54mm inducer
84mm exducer

turbine
76mm inducer
69mm exducer

ebay t3 cast bottom mount manifold

sorry for the sepia lol

Im going to be running a walbro 400 in tank pump, along with 800cc injectors, and Rk-tune for ethanol

a few places I've read state that m50 pistons with m52 rods and m52 crank = 11:1 comp, Im going for that and even higher if the pistons dont make contact with the head

been crazy busy.

distracting side project is my buddys e30 sedan

will be getting a high comp m54b30 on e85 fully bolted rk-tuned with a zf 5speed and 5lug swap.

put the pistons on the rods, after I cleaned the m50 pistons up, also got a pair of s50 cams from Jordan, heavy on the rust but started cleaning them up.

Dirty girl

after the first pass

pulled all the rings off the pistons and they were too wide so im putting in new rings that I picked up from George at ICS (great guy!)

installed a piston and rod after I honed the cylinders to make sure it doesn't stick out above the deck.

Dat 2.8strokebaby

sits herrafrush with those m50pistons brah

I removed the piston and rod and crank that I installed with the old bearings and mismatched caps hand tight just to give me a rough idea as to where the piston would travel.

so I installed the arp main studs after I cleaned the threads and the bearing receivers

took a break

okay back to work! I pushed all the bearings into place, and made sure there was no debris on or under them.

Lucas green super tacky super thick assembly lube on the bearings.

dropped the crank in and spun it to distribute the lube

Put the caps in order facing the right way with the bearings pushed in each cap and more lube on each bearing.

washers on

Arp lube on each stud

torqued and ready to go

to be honest at 10psi te goal is 500whp and then after a while I will turn it up till the turbo runs out of breath

It will be massacre, s54 e36's trap 110 and a 600whp e36 is in the 135mph trap range (zr1 traps 130 out the box)

really excited to find a 2.79 diff, that will help me put the power down in every gear and stay in the powerband for a longer period, top of 3rd gear would be 115mph and 4th should be 158, and maybe we can raise the rev limiter in 5th so I can do 200 in 5th

It would produce the same power as a fresh high compression m52 with s50 cams

I'd figure around 240whp maybe more with bolt ons and an aggressive tune.

It takes a serious aero package to run this kind of speed and keep it between the ditches..... but it's cool to have the potential to get there!

Nice job Frank! Saw earlier that you did it right with the main caps and kept track of the location and orientation.

Can't tell you how many people I know that didn't pay attention and then found their crankshaft hard to turn or even locked up and couldn't understand why when they went to reassemble.

I did the math it would take around 430hp to get to 200 and the hp lost is around 340, turnt up im positive I should be above 600whp, who knows its just nice to have that 2100rpm 60mph cruising speed

If you are serious about taking your car up to 200 MPH you will need to do some serious research into downforce. Here is some reading to get you started.

Yea that parachute is critical. Sounds like fun.

Most of the guys in this area just get a liter bike if they want to go that fast. I say, why stop there? Get a small jet. Cheapest way to go is to get your pilot's license and be someone's personal pilot. Not too hard to do in the Bay Area, really.

I was going top mount, but I couldnt fit an hx40 up top unless I spent heavy money on a manifold, you already pulled your kit off the car?

Just picked my head up from the machine shop! Fresh valvestem seals installed also

paid 180 with the tip

$180 for re-surfaced head and valve stem seals? Did you get a 5 or 7 angle job?

not sure to be honest, head looks great, he tanked it and cleaned every valve and every valve spring looks real clean, he had to take off 5 thousandths to get it straight, it was real warped, and the motor had no signs to a bad gasket or a warped head, he also pressure checked it and every single one was sealed super tight

That's a hell of deal, isn't it? Maybe I should rebuild the top end of my s52 while it's out.
