Tried the NOID!
So a little history. Bought a 85 e30 not running. Found that it will start with starting fluid. replaced all fuel lines and filters and pumps. Getting 40 lbs pressure at rail. Used a generic Noid light from Autozone. getting no light. (Although my son and I tested the ohms and he swears it was getting 2 ohms.) So this means the brain or ECU is dead right? Or is it the Ecm? Big difference in price. Can someone let me know please. I dont want to have to junk this car.

have you checked the crank sensor?

Not yet. Got a used Ecu and now I get light flashes at the injectors but I think the injectors are clogged. no fuel out the bottom. Getting 37 psi at the rail. Will the crank sensor dictate when the injectors operate?

The crank sensor times everything. Ignition, injector pulses. If it's bad, the ECU can't fire anything on time.

This would be down by the transmission or am I thinking of the CPS?

Crank position sensor and the engine speed sensor are located on the bellhousing behind the starter mount. If either are bad the engine will run very poorly if at all.

Have the injectors cleaned, or source another set as this may be the problem.

Yeah i been PMing him. he wont have any til Sunday which means they are about 4-5 days away still. Im getting some from a junkyard today to see if that is the problem.
