Is maaco a good or bad place to paint your car at?

I heard its cheap but I guess you get what you paid for. I tried getting a quote but they never pick up. How much does it cost to paint the whole car black? Maybe matte black.

If you are willing to spend the time masking and prepping your car, they can do a perfectly serviceable job of spraying it with color. If not, then spring for a full service job.

you pretty much get what you pay for, an uneven looking job with drips, overspray and horrible durability.

If you want to paint your car, find a private shop; they'll probably do a better job for a reasonable amount.

Maaco can do a decent job IF you do all the prep work. Thats where they cut the corners to be so cheap.
What color is the car now? To do it RIGHT, (which hardly anyone wants to do), back to an oem/non orange peel finish, is probably between $8k-$12k

It's best to totally strip the car down all trim , glass, frt/rear bumper covers etc, then prep it for them, 30 years working in the automotive trade, Tow it their and put back together , not a quick way , but the best way

I personally wouldnt think it's the place to your high end vehicle. Matte Black is a color that has to be done PERFECT
because flaws can be seen much easier than a Clear coated painted car. It has to look much smoother in my opinion.
Secondly, I totally agree with all the above on prep work. Unless you're an expert at it, the paint job wont look good at all.
I give the thought a big

Please don't puta crappy ambassador paint job on 7. I know the numbers look amazing but if you do a cheap paint on your car it will look like an 86 honda in no time. If you were going to use the previous recommendations and i would stay away from matte paint with them. A private shop that has been in business for years will do a job worth paying for.
My 97 e420 had gotten a two tone paint job at a local shop; 4 grand and it was flawless. Month and some change later; an audi a6 got the same paint job as mine but from maaco. Up close the paint looked like ****. Maybe they got a single stage paint? I don't know didn't look like a base/clear.

So back in the day when I had a rice burner.. ( yes I said it lol!) I had my Acura Integra GS, painted at MAACO. However, I had to fit the body kit pieces on, sand and prep prior to taking it there. I didn't tape off or mask anything, ended up with alot of over spray, including overspray on my tires (wth!!who does that??) anyway not 6 months later the paint started chipping and peeling around the trims and windows... So if you love your 7 and want to keep it.. Find a better place.

at the shopvac!

But seriously there are quite a few people dipping their whole cars. I have seen three people on m6board do their cars in the last year; two in matte white and one in matte black. I would never have the balls to do it as much as I love matte white or grey, but theirs looks pretty good from pictures. Of course I'm still waiting on an "This shlt wont come off thread".

Check out yiutube there are some pretty good videos. One of a guy doing an e92 M3 comes to mind.

I would try it on crap stuff , Old lawn tractor or buy a fender hood from a wrecker I don't all about using it on your whole car big pieces would show a lot of defect one Glaub and your fracked, but I know it's done , but dammm peeling off uneven ?? But I may be way off, Going to buy some and try it on I fender

You know if you have the balls DuPont a ready mix paint ready to go if you want to try doing the couple panels yourself, Painting not really that complicated just take your time even and keep the amount of coats equal on each panel. Then just wet sand color sand and I bet you do a better job than Macco,
