BMW E60 does not recognise the CD changer

Hi, my BMW E60 year 2004 does not recognise the CD changer (the one with 6 CD's). After I select a CD option this message appears in the screen "No supported and readable audio medium found in either internal drive". I disconnected the CD changer in the trunk and reconnected and I could hear the sound when reading and switching the CD's and still doesn't work. However, the single CD drive which is in the front (just below the screen) works. Did anyone have similar problem? Please advice

If you're adding the changer it has to be coded also.

CD Changer

My CD changer has exactly the same problem and I see from a reply that it has to be coded. How do you code it?? (I will try U tube!)

There is a coding section in this forum or you can look over at bmwcoding.com

Thanks,
I haven't seen a green cartridge. Do you hear it cycling when it powers up?

Not very difficult. There are two small doors on the sides that cover screws that extend and retract catches for the mounting. Then should only be two plugs for connection.

It needs re coding-and I am afraid there is nothing that an amateur can do and BMW dealers will not do it unless it was an original part-mine came from ebay. A specialist BMW garage will do it though-it is not difficult and they should not charge very much. in the end cheaper than buying a new one!
