19" non run flat tire comfort level

Hello everyone!

I just signed up to the site so please forgive me if this thread has been done to death!

I just purchased a 2009 335i Xdrive a couple months ago and I have to say the run-flat tires make it an extremely bumpy ride! Gotta love Edmonton Alberta. I have been considering going to a conventional Non-RFT for the summer, so I'm thinking I might as well increase my rim size as well

I would like to hear opinions from anyone who has had experience with either an 18" or 19" non-RFT on their BMW. Will increasing my rim size make the ride just as uncomfortable?

I was thinking of going with the Continental Extreme Contacts DWS.

I will be selling the wheels and tires that came on the car as well, if anyone is interested

Thanks everyone!

That will work, have 19" DW with a major ride improvement. Yes this has been beaten to death so try doing a search, plenty of fodder & tire recommendations out there.

Fodder = Stuff to chew on There have been a few good (long) threads over the past few weeks, think if you search "Run Flat Tire" "Get Flat Tires"or similar things will show up. Bottom line will be tires up to 245X35F & 275X30R will fit on stock back spaced wheels. Rest will be about which tire is the best choice & there are a lot of opinions on that so you should be good to go with a little research.

I am running my car on 235/35/19 front and 265/30/19 rear with Achilles ATR Sport Tires

They are cheap Pirelli made in Indonesia....

Compared to Real Pirelli RFT I got on the rims previously, they still several times better than the real Mccoy Pirelli RFT

No more thumping noise, quiet, good steering feeling etc...

After having tried a few tires sets, excessive harshness on bad pavement was gone only after I installed +1-in-diameter tires. 225/45/18 (like the F30) instead of 225/40/18. Now I am a happy camper.

I have notice some people are putting bigger tires on that back of their vehicles. Is it for performance purposes? Also, this may be a silly question, but I'll ask anyway because I'm a newbie.. Do the rims on the back of the car need to be bigger as well then?

Thanks!

Its best not double post into two threads with the same question.

No typical standard M sport rims.... BMW M sport rims are staggered (9 inch rear)

looks better

not sure about performance

Yes.....yes! We have heard of this, and offer some assistance, poor though it may at first appear:

You must commune with The Capt'n. He will guide you to the answers that you seek.

Search for him. Search for CaptainAudio, and include these special letters in your quest: FSD
