6 Series
The BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations. |

Porsche Carrera S vs BMW 650
I am looking to upgrade my current 650i coupe this year. My dilemma is choosing between these 2 cars.
1) 2009/2010 Porsche Carrera S 2) 2011/2012 BMW 650i coupe I've looked and researched a bunch of coupes and narrowed it down to these two but can't seem to pick one. Let me know your opinion and why. Thanks |

~$65-70k Range? Why not convertible? If I have to choose between these 2 beautiful cars, I must get it cabriolet. If it's a coupe. I'll choose 997 C2S. The 991 has a different looks but I believe 997 and 991 does not have much different overall, except the thinner tail lights.. and the whole new interior design. The 6 series coupe is pretty boring to me. And the Porsche is faster. If you care about the design and not being outdated then BMW 6 series. Porsche has it strong stand among car manufacturers. Moreover, if it's 650, I'll get 2013 for the extra 45hp.

Yes, my range is 60-75k and prefer coupes to convertibles (don't necessarily like the ragtop look). I love BMW but my 650 feels a bit heavy. I don't believe in buying brand new cars that's why I'm considering 2012 650i. I know porsche introduced the PDK in the Carrera 911's in 2009 and there is little change in the 911 (997) Carrera S from 2009 to 2011.

My personal choice would be the C2S. Not sure if you test drove the Porsche yet but if I can describe my driving experience in one word....it's absolutely AMAZING! The choice really depends on what you like (subjective) and what you expect from the car. If you want a sporty car that is fun to drive I would recommend the Porsche. Conversly, if you are looking for a nice luxury cruiser I would go with the BMW. Also, I'm not a fan of the new design of the 6 series...mostly the rear end.

I am all about the driving experience, that's what attracted me to BMW. I hade a 335i coupe and then upgraded to the 650. The 650 doesn't handle as well but I guess I got used to it. I haven't test drove either car yet and will for sure before I make my move.

PM me - we'll meet and you can drive my car. It's night and day from the e6x and the '13s are even faster.

Two very different cars. One is designed to be a sports car and the other to be a a GT car. I wouldn't consider the 997 if I was looking for a comfy GT car and I wouldn't consider the 650 if I was looking for a sports car.
Personally I think cars were much more fun in the past with less weight and isolation so for me the 997 would be a no brainer between those. |

Bimmerfest or Rennlist LOL. Test drive them. Remember to test drive both of them. They are top cars so its understandable if u accidently fall in love with one and decide not to test drive the other like I did LOL

If you want a true sports car, get the Carrera S. If you want a luxury GT car with sporting capabilities, then get the 650i.

I traded my Porsche C2 Cabriolet for the BMW with no regrets. If you think maintenance and repairs are expensive on a BMW it won't compare to the Porsche. I also have a Corvette Z06 so 2 sports cars was 1 too many. I just wasn't impressed at all by the Porsche. It did handle well but would never keep up with the Z06.

^IMO I think it's not a fair comparison between the Z06 and the C2 Cab

I wasn't comparing the Z06 to the Porsche. Seems like the comparison here is the 6 series and the Porsche. The Porsche just didn't impress me in terms of reliability and quality. I did love the way it handled though.

As someone stated above these are 2 very different cars. A large population of M3 drivers head in the direction of the 911. That's a much closer comparo than the 650i. Now this is coming from someone that drove a 650i and got bored with the GT style platform. The 650i is a great car for daily driving and cruising the town. The 911 platform in general will offer a more harsh and definitely a more planted feel. I think you need to decide what you truly want from your next car and go that direction......GL...................Phil

Except to say that both cars are fantastic at what they were designed to be, I could not have stated it better.

One is pure sports car and one is luxury sports car.... One is subtle and the other says please look at me.... One speeds to the front of the pack the other just runs with the pack.... Ones good for short trips the other is good for any distance... One is short, tight and bumpy the other is longer, softer and more forgiving...
Both are German........
