Anyone available to look at 540i 6sp in Clifton Park, NY?

Hello All,

I'm new to the forum and haven't owned a BMW since giving up my '03 E46 M3 five years ago after putting 150K miles on it.

I'm interested in a 1999 540i Sport w/ 6sp MT in Clifton Park, NY, and I was wondering if someone on the forum would be available to take a look at it for me? I'm in the Boston area and if a kindly, knowledgeable member says the car is worthwhile I will come out and do the deal.

I'd definitely be willing to compensate for your time, either via cash or meeting for a drink or three on me if/when I come out to Clifton Park.

Thank you.

Thanks, Bluebee. I plan to head up there this weekend -- I was hoping someone in the area with some experience could take a look and let me know if the "normal" red flag issues such as cooling system, oil leaks etc had been addressed on this car. The current owner has only had it for 4 months but it only had one owner before him according to Carfax, and it was traded in for a new car so its history is not readily available.

Curious why the second owner kept it for only 4 months - maybe trying to flip it at a profit or maybe found something scary and expensive to repair - check it out well. I just sold my 2000 540i Sport 6spd. It was in incredible shape with only 81K miles

I had a similar experience with a "private party" car turning out to be some kind of flipper.

No plates
Only valet key (with a yellow dealer tag on it)
Very limited knowledge about the car.
