Get your battery checked first if the battery is fine then get the car's codes read.

do you know about the battery cable recall ??????? this recall affects 2007-12 1 series 3 series and z4 vehicles!!!! does that include yours ??????? i don't know but the recall letter can in certain cases cause a momentary flickering of the display in the instrument cluster or momentary engine shut down. ask your dealership if your car is affected.

even if thats not it you should go through all your wiring and check for dirty connections. be sure to check all the chassis grounds. when grounds go bad all sorts of strange things can happen.

YOU'RE WELCOME !!!!!

Frederic

If you are in doubt as to weather your car is a part of the recall, call your dealer and give them your vin, they will tell you. Any independent mechanic can read the codes, in fact so can you with an OBD II cable and some free software or a dedicated code reader.
