Make sure your car is still under warranty, so you can get repairs if needed, and have the option of buying an extended warranty.
Bro... I know the difference between an Auction Car and a Dealer car. I didn't just come into existence. The deal I was offered was OK. Not the greatest and certainly not the worst. Since you mention auctions then you should know i am getting exceptional $$ for my Trade.
No matter... I just spoke with him and said Extended Warranty, CPO the car or no dice.

I purchased an 09 750i with all the options except multimedia in Oct 2012 with warranty until Aug 2013. It had 71000 Km (44000 miles). I bought it partly because it had 10 months of warranty left on it. I paid $42500 Canadian. the same car today would sell sub $40K. I thought prices were cheaper in the US but I guess not. In the last 4-5 months I have put 2600 miles on the car and so far so good. I had a few things changed under warranty (back shade sticky motor, daytime running light, back center air vent trim, back stuck cup-holder, broken key FOB and the center storage trim which the dealer later told me was caused by spilled coffee by the previous owner). I would say the car you are considering is a little bit over priced. As for reliability, there are horror stories for all of the model years so it's you and your luck. I took a gamble on the 09 and I hope I don't regret it. I still have an option for a 3 year extended warranty.

Big Marcus,

As a reference point I picked up a 2009 F01 Sport with camera package, luxury seating package, premium sound package, sport package, convenience package, and cold weather package with 16K miles for $44K.

I like to use the cargurus.com application on my phone. Check it out. Assuming my car and the car you are looking at are optioned exactly the same (which it sounds like), here are the numbers:

16k miles 40K miles

Great Price $45,626 $41,028

Good Price $48,066 $43,468

Fair Price $50,119 $45,572

So based on this it is an OK deal but not fabulous. If you love the color though and the trade is right, then buy it. I do think they need to get to at least $42k though.

I know it may seem frustrating if you don't get this, but cars come and go. If you can be patient you will likely get something better equipped for the same money.

Just as an example, I was poking around for months and never saw anything loaded like I wanted. Then I saw my car as a CPO 2 years old. Nothing I had seen for months was as nicely specked or as nice. Had an MSRP of 102K. Called my local dealer that we bought my wifes E60 from. I told him the price I had negotiated asking for advice. He said if I didn't buy it, he would. I drove 110 miles 3x before I finally sealed the deal. It was worth it. What it doesn't have, I just retrofit now and still save 10's of thousands vs. selling and getting the latest model. My current vehicle is up to 2012 specs if not even better with its LCD Instrument Cluster that wont even be introduced until 2014. Even when I take the car in for service, the guys there come to gawk at my '09 vs their latest models rolling through. They still can't believe all the stuff it has and keep asking who I know that can do all that. It baffles them all this stuff can actually just be retrofitted on. You will be fine, just be patient and be willing to travel a bit.

This morning... He has countered with a $1,500 off due to my warranty concerns.
$43k minus $23k on trade = $20k
Hmmmm....

At 23k the dealer is not leaving much profit room on trade in. They are being more than fair in my opinion on the trade. Numbers below are retail numbers.

I agree on him being quite fair on my trade! Can't help but wonder how much the next guy will offer for my car... If these foking extended warranties on these cars weren't so outrageous (@$4k!) I'd already have moved on this car! I'm checking this morning on best potential extended warranties within reason. I fear it'll be time wasted...

I snapped these last week in my garage. Kinda dark and crappy. But trust... They are.
Couple other things he agreed to: ordered an extra key fob and have windows tinted.
Decisions, decisions...

They extra key is about $400. I just had to pay that out of pocket. You add that and the tint, you are getting it for the $42k where I originally said he needed to be. Finding the exact color combo you want takes time. Sounds like this car needs to be yours.....

Tex to cpo a car it cost BMW about 1800 go talk to the manager of your dealer and see if you can pay them to do it. Even if its cost 3500 to extend the warty taking 1500 off plus the trade in on yours is more than fair. Keep us updated

Oh I tried yesterday lol! No go. Manager stated that BMW specifically would have to transaction the entire deal:
1. The bmw dealership acquires the vehicle.
2. The bmw dealership sales the vehicle.

Isn't your car still under factory warty?. If so just extend the warty straight through the dealer.

They won't do it unless the sell you the car. They will sell you an aftermarket warranty though. I'm in the same boat here in Kentucky.

I was under the impression that you could extend the warty one time as long as the car was still under warty, no? I know It's not cheap but I know when I bought my last 2 cars was the case, it has been a few yrs tho

I'm still under factory warranty but my dealer would not CPO the car. Things must have changed.

Incorrect! For a BMW dealership to offer you a CPO car, THEY must sell you the car themselves! Not through a third party. AND as I just said above, I tried. I was told by management that THEY would've had to acquire the car and THEN sell it directly to me or any customer. So no go with that scenario.
We are however, getting closer to this deal....

I was talking about extending the warranty (i.e. BMW Gold or Platinum, which is essentially the same as the CPO warranty, albeit at a much higher cost).
