RPM surge

Intermittently at idle Ive been getting a surge of 3-4 hundred RPM, I always use Shell premium, from different stations. It only occurs when the car is hot. I use my car all day, this dosen't happen every day either, maybe once a day somedays not at all. Any ideas?
