Secondary air pump

I am getting the codes and CEL that pertains to secondary air pump. I activated pump with INPA and also listened upon start up and pump is not working. I took pump out and benched tested it and it works. So is there some fuse or other sensor I am mising here. ?

Thanks

Or is there some relay that I need to look at or replace?

Reset the codes. I had mine pop up. Reset the codes and it has not come back yet. Also check out http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=684787

Have reset codes numerous times. Besides resetting codes is not going to help if there is no power to pump

OK I am in California so not so cold. But I can not even get pump to come on through inpa. There has to be relay or fuse to the pump.w

If you are getting codes p0491 or p0492 its not the pump that broken. My issue was the same as yours. I still have to reset my CEL. The codes come up as secondary air injection, but in reality its a much worse and common problem. It will require cleaning of the crank case vents. Do a search on the forum and you will find much more info. I plan to take care of mine in a few months. INPA does not activate the pump.

Pump will not come on. There is no power to connector. I took pump out and hook power direct and it worked. It is a fuse or relay. That is what I am searching for.

The only other fuses (apart from the trunk) that I know about are located somewhere around the glove box.

by cold start he didn't mean its cold outside and you start your car. he meant your car is not at operating temps (maybe first thing in the morning or after work) and you start your car. the air pump comes on for less then a minute then shuts off.

on the airbox look for the hose which is about 1 inch in diameter and disconnect it. (first time you start the car for the day) then listen to the hose for a bit you should here a sucking or whistling sound then after a moment it stops. that would tell you its working at least. any other time it shouldn't be running.
