Back up sensor

I have a real nice 740i from 2001 that I just picked. It has all the the usual stuff wrong with it. The owner did much to the car including Bluetooth, valley pan, new air conditioning . The only thing I miss from my Infiniti is the back up sensor and rear view Camera. Any one know the best and least expensive route to get this in this car. Camera without the sensor is fine too or visa versa. Thank you.

Hi tomloans,

I honestly think this process will be very expensive and not worth it versus the cost. My friend was thinking of doing this with his E500 due to him having a stiff neck, but the process of getting it done was very complex according to him. Not sure about doing it on a BMW, but hope you find a solution. BTW, I am also thinking of getting a 2001 740i. Would you mind telling me how much you bought yours for?

Car

The one I purchased was $8,000.00. I know this seems high but the vehicle was exactly what I was looking for in unbelieveable condition cosmetically in and out. The car looks and drives like it is about 2 years old. Also the valley pan and air conditioning were done and a variety of other things were fixed on it... I have since spent about $1100.00 on an oil change, transmission oil change, window seal , front and rear allignment and some front linkage replacement. the power steergin pump is wearing out too but I will wait for it to completely go as it could go for years. Be sure to carefully shop for parts and labor. I will have the power steering done for about $500.00 and this includes labor...

Also, he had bluetooth installed which is essential for me.

There is a unit you can put on these cars from ebay. It takes some effort to install but it works well for a back up camera. The only other item you have to buy besides this interface is the camera...

For me if I spend another $3000.00 to have this car in perfect condition, I will as i love the way this car drives. For $12,000 to have a car of this caliber is great plus the insurance and registration is dirt cheap. There is nothing like it out there that i have driven. I have had two of these about 10 years ago and I have always thought of going back to it and I finally did.

Thanks for the info tomloans, makes me think getting the one I want for $6500 isn't that bad; also, how many miles are on it?

Wait for splitdog to chime in. He has a nice one all built in to his nav screen and I think it's pretty resonable.

Yeah I might have paid too much maybe but the car is really nice... It has 111500 on it and it has Dice Bluetooth and Voice Command. All I need is an inexpensive back up sensor and I am good to go.
