My first M3

Hey folks new to the forums,
Wondered what everyone thinks of my first m3? 2012 m3 DCT, comp pkg, exec pkg, mdrive, white on fox red, elect damper, 10k miles, carbon accent on hood. Question is, do I keep the rims or swap for black? I love the look of black and the dealer offered to bake the rims for free. Drove a 2006 330xi for 4 years....this thing is a complete lunatic in comparison.
Thoughts?

Beauty. Congrats! I'd keep the rims as is, if it were mine. Personal preference.

Congrats!

I disagree with all above - I vote for black powdered rims - in the existing very sympathetic M3 359 ZCP style. Generally, I do not like black wheels but given your black hood sweeping into the CF roof - in tandem with the CF front end splitters - black wheels would provide balance, if not a visual anchor, by visually drawing your eyes from the roof to the wheels. It is especially nice that your car's body is in alpine white - alpine white provides dramatic contrast and imparts a lissome quality to the overall design.

The essence of M is passion! Go for it!

Years ago black rims were unique and cool. They look great, but everything on the road with 4 wheels nowadays seems
to have them. If I were you I'd leave the rims as is.

I'm set on the black. Just wanted some opinions. Thanks from Canada!
I can always go back if it's too much. Is it normal to be this excited about a car???? Lol

Congrats on the car!! I really dislike the hood accent though... It's kinda ricey and belongs on a Honda Civic IMO!

Rims need to be black

Rims and spoiler (carbon) will be black. Any idea how expensive it is to swap side mirror covers? Currently they are that carbon look. I am liking the white on some set ups. Also, I was wondering if anyone recommends the angel eyes? My buddy has a 1M and he says we have to get me a set , says they are really easy to install as well.

I would agree with the major response. What you have looks very good. I agree black would be very nice too. I see no need.

I don't normally like black wheels either but they just look right on yours. I love all the black contrast on white. I finally learned to buy what I like rather than what I think others will like...so glad you are very happy...Congratulations and enjoy!

Thanks for the comment....I had a question about angel eyes...I've got a buddy with a 1m and he says they are awesome. I've been doing some research and I wondered which one to go with if I take the plunge. I hear one appears more "blue" than "white" which is of course what I want (white) Any suggestions?

I love the black wheels, not sure about the black hood reminds me of a cop car.

My first M3

To continue an old thread, the black hood is now white (factory) and I'm feeling good about it. What a set of wheels man. I do have a question. Ever since I've owned the car I've noticed a shudder in the steering wheel upon breaking. I had always thought it was sort of strange but since it was my first m3, I thought maybe it had something to do with a sporty braking feel (who knows?). I brought it to a different dealer (from which I bought the car) for an oil change and the BMW tech thought it could mean the front rotors may need to be replaced. This pisses me right off. I bought the car 4 months ago, put 7000km on it (mostly highway driving) and I'm not really driving the car very hard. The car now has 24,000km and its a 2012. Anyone else have similar issues when braking?
Thanks for your feedback.
B

Issue might be DTV, this might be of interest:

http://www.brakeandfrontend.com/Arti...omplaints.aspx

"Reoccurring pulsation complaints are perhaps the second most common reason a customer returns after having brake service. The brakes operate normally for the first 3,000 to 6,000 miles, but then the customer notices a high-speed pulsation when getting off the exit ramp on his way to work one morning. The customer returns to the shop with the pulsation complaint and leaves with usually one of two “fixes” — the rotors being machined or replaced. The usual explanation given the customer is that the rotors “warped.”

Thank you....I was told they could be warped . Interesting. I will have it inspected and see if they can figure it out.

No problem. Be curious what you find out. I kinda doubt they're warped. M3 disk is pretty large lump of metal.

Ok so just had the car "fixed" I hope. Free of charge...bonus. I was told that the problem was the front right wheel bearing with too much play....said that over time, it lead to warping of the rotors and the pulsation in the steering wheel. I was told they replaced both front rotors and the front right wheel bearing. I will let you know how things feel when I pick it up tomorrow night.
