E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

N55 with DCT lurching?

I've got a 2012 135i with DCT and was pulling into a parking spot art work and had it lurch enough to make me think I might hit a concrete pole. Anyone seen any lurching with their 2012 N55 DCT cards?

Ditto here... 18 months in on a 2012 135i with DCT and N55... no problems at all. I'd take it in and see if the shop can pull anything from the computer.

Exclamation

could be related to engine surges that some of us are experiencing. see the thread entitled: "Has anyone else experienced this?"

I have a 2012 135cic and yes I have had the same problem. The first time I took it in I was ignored. This time I told them I would come back every week and make an appt if I had to. They were instructed by BMWNA to take apart my exhaust system but while doing so they found a cracked part in the air intake. I will be picking it up tomorrow or Monday and will give more specifics and if I feel the problem was fixed.

great - await followup. My problem is so intermittent (for now) that I plan to sit on it until it worsens. and to think I sold my vette to get a less troublesome car.

I've have had my 2012 135 for about a week now and I do notice an intermittent and slight lunge when I come to a stop. It's just enough that its seems like my foot has almost slipped off the brake, allowing the vehicle to move forward perhaps a foot or so. As I watch the RPMs when coming a stop, they do spike a bit which seems to cause this lunge forward. Gonna wait and see if it gets any worse. If not, ill mention it at my next service appointment.

Still testing my car out but...

I got my car back from BMW of San Antonio yesterday 4/16. I havent had a chance to really test it out to see if the problem is resolved yet but I will post what was done to the car as per the service work order:

found intake pipes to be leaking. Removed air intake box to remove upper plenum and replaced gasket between pipes. Smoked vehicle again. Still leaking. Replaced upper and lower plenum pipes on air intake system. Smoked vehicle no leaks present.

Parts replaced:
1 13-71-7-599-292 gasket: 139500
1-13-71-7-599-286 air duct without mass
airflo: 13709971
1-13-71-7-599-290 Air duct, bottom: 13709971
100 LO 1371565

Props to BMWSA for taking the time to find the problem!! My car has a little over 24k miles, its a 2012. I noticed it around 5-6k miles. It did get progressively worse. I would think that there will be a recall.

wonderful update. Recall seems highly unlikely unless the volume of occurrences markedly increases. Will show this to my Service Manager next time I go. For now I continue to monitor as the problem is so intermittent.

Unfortunately

I wish I could say that these part replacements and 3 weeks in the shop that the problem was resolved. The only real change I can tell is that the problem is MORE consistent. It's going back this week.

Just got a call from my service advisor

They are replacing all fuel injectors in my car!! Wow! If it doesn't fix the problem...somebody went thru a lot of time and expense.

In case anyone is interested, after they replaced parts of intake system, all the injectors, all ignitition coils, spark plugs...my car still had the same lurching problem. Finally, they replaced the DME and my car runs like it should. So the problem was was the DME.
