Exclamation Just bought...

an aFe Stage 2 MagnumForce CAI and it doesn't fit. wtf!?

I specifically typed in my vehicle type (2007 328xi E92) and out comes this item on the list of compatible parts. I know there are two types of this part (one for steering assist and one for non-steering assist - I have the green 7-spoke cap for my steering fluid (this means no steering assist from what I've read)).

Anyway...I take out the stock air box/intake tube and put in the aFe intake tube and get to the point of putting on the heat shield and it doesn't fit in my engine bay. There is a support bar in the way of the bottom sliver of the heat shield that gets bolted on.

I've looked around to other sites and they all say that this part fits the 2007 328xi E92 so I have no idea what is going on here..it even says it on the box. BUT the directions say 2006 325i and 2006 330i..I think that is just because they're generic directions (which is BS because they should all be custom).

Has anyone run into this problem/fixed it somehow or know what I can do besides not install an aftermarket intake?

call AFE and see if they have an updated install for your car; or if they say it should fit your car. If it's a common issue for your year/model they might just be able to talk you through the install. Either way good luck

I am rather ASTOUNDED that an aftermarket part didn't fit properly...taking notes on this issue.
