Sport Plus Display of HP and Torque!

this may have been discussed or posted. but i don't recall ever seeing this before.
I noticed in the sport plus setting displayed on main screen is HP and Torque graphical display. I shot a quick vid and pic...just realized how poor the pic came out.

Whenever I change the driving/suspension mode (Eco PRO, Comfort, Sport, Sport+), I'm given the option in iDrive to display these screens. I'm in a 2013 btw.

I have that in my '14. But have not had a chance to explore them fully.

I wonder how they calculate the HP and Torque? Probably some function of RPM. I doubt they have a specific sensor on the shaft.

...and I'd like to see boost there!

Has to be one of the more useless features invented on any vehicle.

Not really sure about it being useless.... I think it adds to the fun to drive factor of the car. One of those awesome things to throw up on the screen when you have someone riding in the car with you to make them drool even more about how awesome the X3 is.

Speaking of boost. I had the same engine in my 335 but I never heard the boost like I can in my X3 35i. Sometime I catch the sound of the "pssii" when I let off the gas. pretty cool.

Saw this today, it may be useful feature to see how much HP is used during those quick sprints

your 335 had N54 (twin turbo) engine, X3 has N55 (single turbo). Same engine size, same declared output (i believe N54 has ~20hp more than advertised). N54 has been shown to be more welcoming to being tuned/modified. I think N55 is the main reason why most aftermarket companies don't bother with it.
