Mein Auto: 2001 BMW Z3 2.5i
Potential Purchase

Ok. I am new on here and am considering a 2001 BMW Z3 2.5i it has the hard top and soft top the hoist and roller. It has 94k on it they are asking 10k for it. Clean carfax 2 owners. I am aware of the water pump issue (seen on here) however are there any other issues I should be concerned with? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanx

here is a link for the car.

Can't make any quick judgements on the value of the purchase, but, consider the hardtop, hoist, roller and hardtop install kit as an approximate $2000 bonus and subtract that from the purchase price when you're comparing numbers.

The auto trans is definitely a negative from a performance aspect, but depends on how you feel about that.

Just rough values on the used market
Hard Top: $1200-$1300
Hoist: $200
Roller (Rack): $100
Hard Top Install Kit: $300

Mein Auto: 200 Mcoupe Dinan,
i have a 200 m coupe that i modified just to get the dinan badge. have it checked by reoutable mechanic before doing anything. ouside of a rattle and small electrical short - which bmw bent over backwards to fix - nothing has gone wrong. i use michelin pilot sports, k&n filter, dustless brake pads. enjoy

I looked at a similar Z3 last fall. The hard top on a dolly meant nothing to me, especially after considering storage space and a hoist. The dealer did not offer a CarFax, so I bought one that showed a serious accident that bent the A pillar ten years ago. The car had only 35K, but the clutch pedal was stiff and squeaky, and the rear window was almost opaque which made driving dangerous. A mechanical inspection only found a bad quibo coupling. But the killer for me was the wet seat and wet floor. And I was discouraged by reading about the soft top drains and what happens to the electric motor when they back up. The used car dealer wanted $14K, I offered $10K and we parted ways.
