Navigation update & USB functionality

Hello Folks,

New to the forums; just got a 2008 528xi.

1) I noticed that the navigation does not have POIs. Is this part of the Navigation SW update or is available by updating the maps to the latest version.

2) I do not see a USB port anywhere, there is a AUX socket in the back of the armrest. Is it not possible to have a USB port at all now?

I tried the search already..

Please help!

The USB port may be on the left side of the Glove Box. That's where mine is on 2010 328xi.

Welcome to the forums, congrats on the car.
For your questions:

1) POI's can be updated with the map update, look at your disc and it will tell you what version you have - my car came with 2007.1, and I happened to have a 2009.1 disc from my old car I put in. Just be sure to get a disc specifically for the CCC NAV unit you have, in 2010 BMW switched to CIC hard drive based NAV, those discs do not work on CCC NAV.

2) The AUX port was standard in 2008, however, the USB port was optional (6FL option required). You will not have a USB port in your glove compartment, CIC cars have those. If you want to know what packages your car actually came with go to bmwvin.com to decode your VIN #
