335i on order for May ED... now the long wait

Moving up from an old Honda Civic I bought when I graduated college, and I am super stoked for my first bimmer!

Got a little carried away on options, but meh, it's gonna be a sweet car. It's designed to be the sports sedan and luxury car I want all in one:
335i X-drive (Black Sapphire)
-ZDH (Dynamic Handling) Btw, I test drove an x-drive with ZDH, and it makes a huge difference - I highly recommend you test out a x-drive w/ ZDH if you are thinking of going AWD
-ZLL (Lux Line)
---- Beige (I liked the thought of saddle brown, but I didn't like how it started to look kind of orange in the wrong sunlight)
---- Anthracite Wood
---- 416 Multi-spoke wheels
-ZPP (Premium Package)
-ZCW (Cold Weather)
-ZTP (Tech)
-3AG & 508 (Park Distance & camera)
-688 (Harmon Kardon sound)
-417 & 415 (Rear sunshades)

Build submitted and ED dates requested in mid-May; now for the long wait.. it could be early/mid June before I can get behind the wheel stateside. Let's just hope I don't burn out the civic trying to imagine it's a 335 till the real thing gets here.

Also wanted to say thanks to all the folks on this forum for all the great info - made the purchase easy as pie, and WAAAY more transparent than any of the dealerships I visited would have liked

Congrats! I hear you about the wait. I can tell you that it's doable, and well worth it in the end. Enjoy your new bimmer and have a blast on your Euro trip!

Congrats. Be aware waiting for your ED date to arrive is not half as bad as waiting for your new baby to arrive back @ your dealer.

May is is IMHO the best time for ED. Both of mine were May. Nice weather but not hot & fewer tourists. Enjoy & try to get a drive down the Romantic Road. Great day trip from Munich.

Have you traveled to or driven in Europe? Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France are like driving heaven.

I have done 3 Euro Delivery's. It will be an awesome experience. What areas or city's do plan to visit? You will be amazed on how well the Nav works over there and it can only be better as my Euro Deliveries were in 2001, 2002 and 2007. Enjoy it!

I'm also doing a mid-May ED. But I've been waiting since December...

This will be my first visit to Europe. Look forward to seeing the countryside in Germany, Switzerland, and maybe Italy and Austria. I've planned to take ~2 weeks over there sometime anyway, and I wanted to take advantage of not being stuck to the major train/bus routes. My hope was to see some of the major cities around Munich (Zuirch, Geneva - I'm a science buff and will go see the Large Hadron Collider, maybe Venice or Vienna), but also I wanted to be sure to check out some of the outlying towns and countryside too. Probably will spend a good afternoon traveling the Alps if weather permits.

Does the Nav come pre-loaded with maps for Europe? Will I need to buy/upgrade/install/etc. something to enable them?

No worries. The Euro maps will be preloaded into the Nav before your arrival.

Got my PO# today, and confirmed my ED date for May 13th!

Now to book travel, and figure out what to do with this awesome automobile over in Europe. I am leaning towards a ~14 day stay, maybe try to experience some of the off-the-beaten path Europe that you would only be able to see with your own car over there. My boss (a German) recommends touring the Alps for a few days, perhaps exploring some of the lakes in northern Italy.

I suppose its time I started a thread in the ED forums to continue this conversation.

I will be sure to post back here with some pics once I pick her up and to post a few of my first thoughts on driving her.

I'm also picking up the 13th. Maybe I'll see you there. What's your time?

Just remember that in Europe the left lane for passing only. When you're done you move over, no ifs ands or buts. Wish same apples in the US.

Congrats and have fun, ED is a great experience.
