Which package is a must have for a 328i?

I found a 2009 328i that I am interest in buying and it will cost about 18k plus tax. I was looking at the features and it has no packages. I drive a 05 528i and it had the premium package. Will I miss out on anything here?

The "must have" package can only be answered by you. What are the features you can't live without?

70 to 80% of the posters on this board have ZSP (Sports package) and would not do without it. I passed on it, and haven't had a single moment of regret.

70 to 80% of the posters on this board have ZPP (premium package). But, there are also a bunch of posters who don't want leather seats and think a bunch of the other dodads and gizmos that come with ZPP are worthless.

I personally would not buy a 3-series without ZPP, but that's just me.

and, btw, lots of features on the E9x are available a la carte. So, just telling us that it has not packages doesn't say all that much about what it will or will not have.

What Kilgore said.

I didn't get any "packages" with my built to order E93, but I did get some la carte features such as leather seats and upgrades to my sound system/entertainment interface.

The fact that BMW had la carte options was a huge selling point back in 2009. I honestly think all the "packages" detract rather than enhance. Figure out what you like, need and want, then find the car that is the best fit.

I have to say... I love my convenience package. I never take my key fob out of my pocket at all. Love the fact that my car opens and locks at my touch.

Don't know how I ever survived without heated seats (cold weather package) NAV is well integrated, 17 inch wheels were la carte and important to me ......

Well for me, heated leather sports seats, comfort access and sunroof are all must haves. The (2007) Sat-nav, i-drive and voice command are not my friends and would (and do) happily live without them.

Xenons... Because, regretfully, it's way too expensive to add them later.

As mister trout has indicated, options (packages) are a very personal choice.

Personally speaking Sport and Xenons are a must and Infotainment is highly desired.

Keep in mind that, if it's a RWD coupe, you get the sport suspension as standard equipment. On the sedan, it's part of the Sports Package (ZSP). And another thing: you seem to know how the car is equipped, but you can verify that by putting the VIN into the BMWVIN (last 7 digits) website to get a readout of all its features and options.

Mine came with Comfort Access... Did not think much of it at the time, but now that i've lived with it for awhile, it's a must have in my book... And i really like xenons... My wife's car doesn't have them, and i miss them when i drive her car... Nav is handy, but not a must have... Lastly, the hardest option of all to find is a manual gearbox... That option makes a big difference!

For the original poster.

A couple of easy ways to determine if you have a sports package or premium package.

If you see the seats have the thigh extensions, that means you have the sport package, clear and simple.

Premium package: If you have the compass/garage door opener in the rear mirror. There are other ways but these are one of the two easiest ways as I believe you can not order these options a la carte if i'm not mistaken.

But bmwvin.com is also your friend but the above is quick sure way if you do not have the VIN.

Good luck!!

And for me a must have, sports package with a 6 speed m/t

I'm betting that the thing you'll miss the most is the Premium Package.

Other packages & features are too numerous to list here. However, details are available online.

Another vote for the sport package here, as well as the premium, and heated seats. But don't forget the most important of all, the 6mt option.

I'm also in the market for a 328i...I have test driven nearly 15 cars this week and I have decided that the only package I am set on having is the premium package. I have a bad back and the lumbar support is really nice.
Also, navigation/idrive is pretty awesome. I will be bummed if I settle on a car without it...so I guess I won't

Haha sad news. I looked at the car yesterday and get this, the car isn't for sale. Lol. Turns out it doesn't have any airbags in the car and they're going to send it to the auction. Bastards put the car on their website and the car isn't even for sale.

I'm now looking at a 2010 328i with sports and premium package with about 40k miles for about 23k
