Just Picked up my 335i xDrive and SOOOO Happy!!!

Just picked up my 335i xDrive. I was going back and forth between the 328 and 335 for over a month. the 328 was great!!! nimble, sporty, fun, comfortable, great mpg, just a great car overall but I just couldn't get away from me wanting a 335. I knew that after a week I would kick myself for not getting the 335i. I LOVE THE 335i!

recommend the art of tint for the tint if you're looking for a high end tint-- only dealer of either formula 1 pinnacle ceramic or huper optik in the tri state region. I think tom (owner) still tints in sheepshead bay on the weekends. he might have moved everything to his shop in manhattan though, not sure.

he's done all my cars for the past 12 years.

How do you like the Harmon Kardon sound system? I'd debating tacking it on after listening to the standard system, and not being much of an audiophile, but then said screw it and tacked it on... That's the one feature I haven't been able to test / experience yet through cars on the dealer lot.

You might want to look into getting a winter wheel setup. I had summer performance tires on my 535xi and took one turn in the snow and almost lost control. X drive wont help with those tires in the snow.

The Harmon Kardon sound system is a huge step up from the base version IMO. I heard both before placing my 328i order.

depends on what film you want
standard solarguard dyed film is comparable to what others in the area charge. about 200 or so, i dont remember. he actually tints for almost all of the high end and regular dealers in manhattan, so he carries a wide range of film. the workmanship is top notch, no film gap to the edge, single piece rear glass, etc. bmw of manhattan is one of his clients, so he's very very good at doing bmws.

the high end ceramic films (formula 1 pinnacle and huper optik) are in the 400-475 range, contact him for a quote, you can tell him his neighbor Ken with the blue 335i sent you (he lives in the financial district)

Cool I will do that. What is the difference in the tints that makes it so expensive?

heat rejection. and the material that does the rejecting

you typically have 3 kinds of tint. the film has one of the following bonded to it:

dyed polyester (your standard tint, in NYC, typically about 175-225). after a few years this can turn purple or bubble as the sun bleaches the poly.
Metallic ( has atomized metal, can be reflective, but very good at rejecting heat. negative being that metallic films can interfere with electronic signals, radar, cell phone, comfort access, etc)
ceramic (very good heat rejection, can be reflective or not, does not interfere with electronics)

there is a fourth, carbon, but i dont know as much about it.

Seriously, 16 speakers, 600 watts. Enough said.

Don't have high expectations when listening to Sirius though, because Sirius sounds like crap no matter what kind of sound system you have.

The argument a lot of people have is that the base system is an improvement over the E90 base system. That could be true, but the base system doesn't come close to HK, and that's all that matters to me.
