E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993.

82 m20 into 84 318.

Is this swap just as explanitory as any m20 swap in an e30? My m10 is crap so i got a m20 6cly from a e21 i just wanna know if it will just be plug and play like most of the m20.

How about you tone it down a bit before you start demanding info?

If both are carb'd i dont see any major issues other than swaping entire drivetrains.

If both are fuel injected (which im guessing they are L-jetronic) then it should be easily done also.

The only thing that concerns me that I am not very familar with is if either is carb'd or fuel injected and trying to mix both together. Someone else might chime in here to help clear that up.

They are both fuel injected. I have a drivetrain, starter, alternater and a ecu for the inline 6. i was just worried because the motor is out of an 82 going into an 84. i didnt know if there would be some major issues i would run in to because im going old into new.

No I think you will be golden, the M20 was used for years relativly untouched throughout its production. Most notable changes are the switch between jetronic and motronic.

You are swaping a 6 cyl into a 4 cyl space ?
On the EFi side, I know that you need a 6 cyl ECU.
I would not know if the gearbox need not be moved back either, if it mates up ??
As with any conversion, you need to talk to somebody who has done this succesfully...

^ 6 cylinder motors were available in the 3 series (he said his motor is from a e21 (3 series) nothing needs to be moved back just a different set of mounting arms is all.

If people are installed LS/M60 motors i think the M20 is fine.
