I think they are all 2014 spec as in Australia, all F31 are just released in March with updated NBT and Bluetooth extended connectivity ( no need to add smartphone option like sedan). I will be very upset if they updated to MY14 for 328i in July as the car will be finally arrived down under this month. Just like Audi A3 sports back, don't think they will release the old MY models for 2 months.

Though currently all f31 is marked as my13.5

If you were to check the "Ask-A-Dealer" forum you will find that Jon Shafer (Bimmerfest founder) advises that the MY 2013 F31 will continue to be made through June, and production of the MY 2014 will begin in July. I do not know what differences, if any, there will be.

The F31 I picked up from my dealership last week is a 2014. I don't have a Navi so I can't tell if that is different. Without owning a <2014 F30 the only change I'm aware of is the addition of fog lights on the Msport.

Wrong. Jon himself later said the opposite.

Moreover, you can go to any VIN lookup tool and check for yourself. All US F31s have "E" in the model year position.

Could you please provide the reference? I read all 5 pages of the "Sticky" related to SOB and EOB for every model, and did not see that. Also, what does "E" mean"
.....Thank you. I want to be sure before ordering.

Just call your BMW dealership. They will confirm with you that there is no 2013 model year F31.

Actually, I saw one at the New York Auto Show as they did not have a 2014 as yet. Perhaps it was a European version.
I have since confirmed that they did start building the 2014 F31 in March.

Does Stalking AutoTrader Count?

My previous lease ran out in March (yes carless for two months!) and we had seen the SportsWagon at the auto show here and were promised it was coming really soon - didn't want to wait to order. After calling all four local BMW dealerships and getting four different stories (including one salesperson telling us they were made in Spartanburg...???...) and suggestions to just buy a sedan - I started stalking auto trader until one was close enough that had what I wanted. Picking it up tomorrow! On a side note my dealer says that the prodution line alternates between the sports wagon and something else (maybe the GT?) perhaps that explains the wait?

B R O T H E R... did you ever hook up with the dimwitted and clueless car monkeys. So how was the F31 configured that you found?

Mine arrives in port tomorrow and hopefully it will make its way to the dealer about a week later. My sales guy even managed to get some BMW crossbars shipped from Germany for a decent price as next month I'm off with my kayak for play on the Great Lakes.

We have a disconnect here. On the one hand, you want something that would convince you 100%, on the other hand you don't know how to read VINs. I'm not sure how to bridge this gap.

Here's the first US spec F31 ever made. For me, that was enough to know that Jon was fed incorrect information about model year designation by BMW. What you'll see here, I don't know.

VIN WBA3G7C53EF186000
Type code 3G73
Type 328I XDR (USA)
E series F31 ()
Series 3
Type TOUR
Steering LL

Engine N20

Power 180
Drive ALLR
Transmission AUT
Colour ALPINWEISS 3 (300)
Upholstery SENSATEC 1/SCHWARZ (KCSW)
Prod.date 2011-08-05

Here's the first US F31 with the new nav, which is clear from the S6xxA options in it. It was produced in last October, almost half a year before BMW started building US F31s for sale.

VIN WBA3G7C58EF186011

F31 is built in Munich, F34 is built in Dilgonfing. The Munich production line alternates between F31s and everything else the plant builds.

The average production rate of US F31s is ~10/day.

In Boston, they are readily available at most dealers now. I test drove one today.

Whoever orders an F31 and gets a VIN that doesn't end with "F186xxx", could you PM it to me?

This will be my wife and my first BMW (save her ex-husband's late 80's 325 and my 1980 320 is. Both complete crap for different reasons).

328i xDrive

Alpine white/ dakota black leather/ aluminum hexagon trim

Cold weather
Drive assistance
Dynamic handling
Lighting
M sport
Premium
Technology
Sport automatic w/ paddle shifters
Rear manual side window shades (for our little fubwub)
Harmon Kardon

The dealer (BMW of Alexandria; who was excellent) indicated the car will be here late July.

This replaces her very nice and ludicrously expensive Porsche Cayenne S. I will attempt to keep my grubby, car modifying hands off of it.

Mein Auto: 2008 BMW 535xi Wagon
I drove the 328xi sport wagon last week and, while I found it slightly numb-er feeling than my current 2011 335xi sedan I liked it very much. The engine, other than the click-clacking sound, is amazing--strong and smooth. Having a bit more rear seat room makes a difference. And I love the looks. I'll get it with the adaptive suspension. Only question is if I can get it at a price I'm willing to pay.

Good luck with that. I knew the car I ordered was going to be costly but there's virtually no alternative. If Audi would have only offered the S4 Avant here in the states, I doubt that I would be posting here now... but they don't and probably next week I'll be deciding if the N20 has enough guts to keep things interesting.

We would have been done on the S4 avant ourselves. Our MSRP was just over $58k and we paid $54500. It was really the only car that fit the bill.

You sure must have checked all the little boxes

I didn't check too many and it came in a good ways north of 50k and we settled south of 49k... I really didn't do a good job of working the price.

Anyhow it is too bad that the S4 Avant can't generate enough sales to be viable in NA. I had a 2009 Avant with a remapped ECU and it was really a very nice car. Only issue was that it had the sports suspension which was great except for when I took it to some remote kayak launch sites.

We really did load it up, but my wife is giving up a pretty swank car. Since the baby our priorities have really changed. We had an 09 S4 avant as well. Great car. We should have kept it. I was in the car business for a long time and knew a bunch of people at the dealer. I'm sure that helped with the price.
