Question Pre-LCI E90 with Harness + Custom LED Angel Eyes

Hi All,

Just bought myself the Vista harness to use my Angel Eyes as DRL's. Curious if the harness is picky about LED bulbs for any reason? Was considering going with these: http://www.highperformancebulbs.com/bmwaneywh6wa.html

Anyone have any experience with these particular bulbs? Is clarity ok?

Thanks.

Wow, that Vista harness looks really cool... Nice find. Now I want new headlights.

I would think it should be okay because the LED bulbs usually have resistors to eliminate error messages.

40 bucks here, cheaper than other places ($60-80 usually).

I was debating it for a long time, but I think it was finally time.

On another note, my right parking light blew out again as I was getting into my car today to head to lunch. How ironic. Cheap bulbs though, good thing I have a ton of them in the glove box.

Yep, stock xenons (with adaptive headlights). I bought the 6 watts, so we'll see how they look. I don't mind the orange look of the coronas, but bright white would be sweet.

Did it to my e92, it's not as bright as the LCI rings, but its much better than the warm halogen color. I think you'll be happy with the result.

This adapter could be the start of another expensive project for my sedan. Thanks.

Put the new LEDs in, took some time as its not easy to work blind in the engine bay with little room. The right side was dimmer looking at first, but then after fiddling with the housing and pushing it in a bit more it was brighter, but not as much as the drivers side which is quite bright and on the first try...wonder if I need to go back in there and give it another try...

Going to try the harness tomorrow as well.

Little update this morning. Managed to fix it by getting back in there and readjusting the passenger side. It was able to go in another quarter of an inch believe it or not. I knew something was going to be off when I noticed how snug the drivers side fit in there. Looks great now, I'll get some pics after work tonight for anyone that cares.

Started reading up on the harness yesterday and saw this thread (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=798183) which recommends swapping certain wires that the PDF does differently (http://www.namotorsports.net/docs/VIE90DRLHarness.pdf). Was a bit confused, but shouldn't be an issue as I'll have my father helping me on it (electrician/engineer, how can you go wrong with that!?). By helping me do it, I mean he'll basically do it and tell me what to do, and I'll basically photograph it and make my own guide for all of you, as the PDF guide blows ass for newbies who don't mess with things like wiring. So expect that this week. Hopefully we can make it a sticky as well.

In other news, off-topic, my rear-shock started leaking (OEM), so I'll have to do that as well...

Thanks all.

Curious, isn't the vista harness supposed to eliminate the need to rewire things?

I'm sure the PDF will explain.

No you're right, bad wording on my part. It's not wiring per se, more like "installation". That'd have been a better word to use. Doing it tonight after work, should have the PDF set up hopefully tomorrow. Been busy!

Ok so here's a shot of the DRL's working, did the harness yesterday with great results. I have to put it together when I get some free time, but I want to do it right and make it clean and detailed. The harness install took about 2 hours since I took my time to do everything neatly and zip-tie things, and get it all right.

Overall I have about 60-70 pictures I took last night, so the guide should be pretty exemplary for anyone that needs it. I had my father who happens to be a master electrician help me with it to make sure everything was perfect, so anyone can rest assured it won't fry their car, hah.

The Angel Eyes don't look as bright in this picture, might be my phone...or how INCREDIBLY bright (despite cloudy) it was this morning. They look much better in person.

MTEC angel eyes are much brighter and much higher quality, we stock the V4's now.

I may at some point grab brighter ones, but since it's such an incredible pain to remove them, I don't want to have to think about it for the time being. Perhaps in the fall. The V4's look almost TOO bright though...at least in pictures.

I'll have to believe you then.

Maybe if I could get some kind of discount I may jump on it.

I still owe you guys the guide, the pictures are sitting in a folder on my desktop, just need to write it up. I doubt I'll have time for it for a while, but it is in the pipeline (along with a million other projects). Sorry...
