Goodwill at BMW, head gasket problem

Hi All,
Just taken in 320D M Sport after coolant light came on & had lost a lot of fluid. Car is nearly 5 years old, FSH (3 year BMW, then BMW independent) driven & serviced from new, 118,000 miles. BMW require 500 just to inspect head gasket.
Any advice re what to do next; likely goodwill from BMW, repair, recon engine, trade in. Berks/ Surrey, much appreciated...many thanks

What are the UK original manufacturer warranty terms?
US warranty is 4years/50,000 miles whichever occurs first. I doubt it will qualify for a "good will" repair.

Congrats on owning a BMW diesel and, welcome to the Fest. In my opinion, you're screwed!

That said, gotta wonder....what exactly will BMW do for 500?

I did a goodwill repair on my X3 when my heated seat burned through on driver's side. I asked, they said yes.

Yes BMW does goodwill, so you can ask. It's not much of a chance. If they say no, I highly recommend you ask why the inspection alone will cost 500. That sounds like a lot to do some diagnostics. Alternatively you can go to an indy shop

BMW goodwilled a very expensive repair for me. Ihad a cracked fuel tank which then led to a fuel pump and gasket being replaced. Car was a few thousand miles out of warranty. Lots of evidence that problem had existed for a while though.

Repair would have been thousands. BMW covered it in full and I had a brand new F30 loaner to drive for a week.

BMW was very clear on the phone that they saw the fuel tank crack as a safety risk and were helping me as a result.

Either way, it was so pretty impressive customer service, if you ask me. Classy, in fact.

If you get any goodwill with that may miles and time, I will be shocked.

If its leaking why charge to look at it.

If its leaking why charge to look at it.
So some guy is standing there saying I agree there is oil between the two connecting
pieces that will be 500 lbs please.
Isn't there a visible leak?

Hi Folks,
Am amazed you are all taking time to reply, thanks!
My indy doesn't repair head gaskets & can't recommend reliable garage. Got fingers burned with a dodgy recon engine in past so avoid going to people I don't know; if anyone can recommend indy in Surrey/ Berks let me know!
BMW insisted on 500 to remove head gasket to get exact diagnosis, as central customer service only accept goodwill requests this way. Glad to hear Goodwill payments exist. Family now on 6th BMW so maybe loyalty counts somewhere & service engineer said its a rare problem for car that age and mileage.
Going to watch my heated seat going forward too zzz

ps You can prob guess am not that technical. Can I ask what may be a stupid question but should there be some other warning before a head gasket goes? I only got the coolant warning light come on. I topped up & got the car to BMW. I think furby needs to market his graphics to BMW for head gasket probs zzz

I did feel it. Told my wife not to use. Took it to dealer - they said bad and new seat $1300. Got X3 back, my wife forgot seat was bad and dealer did not disconnect. Wife turned on and heater burned through leather and her pants leg.

Dealer then said they would repair as Goodwill. I think they felt bad not disconnecting!

The hot spot was hot!

I don't think they felt bad, I think they felt threatened with a lawsuit.
