So I just noticed a thread on the F30 board about general perception of BMW drivers. This just got me really curious for some reason. I wanted to post this question here, although I feel like 90% of you are already married (f10 seems to attract the older geezers?).

How do women perceive you when they find out what car you drive. Has your 5er increased your dating scene? Has anyone been able to move up the totem poll from a 5 to say a 9?

Firsthand account here, my 528 has done nothing for me....still love it though.

Poll attached.

I don't use a car to get women. And by the way you don't want a woman that likes you because of a car.

I was pulling chicks when I was riding the bus.

That said I offered a girl a ride home e in my e34 and she asked me if I wanted her number.

I am already a 10, so the F10 will not move me up in the scale

I think car are no longer a status symbol (unless it's a ultra-lux marque like Rolls or Bentley). At least in my neighborhood, nobody gives a sh!t about their neighbor's car (and 80% of them drive a Prius anyway).

But it might be because Californians are so obsessed with their home price they have little time for anything else

My wife reads these boards...but she also enjoys watching the attention that our cars get us (she drives a Porsche).

Compared to Ed1, an 2009 E90 335, ED2 a 2013 550 gets a lot more attention.

Women don't seem to respond to me any differently. But then again, I'm 60 years old and married. I had several Corvettes in the last 12 years, most recently a 2009 Z06 that I sold a year ago. High school girls thought it was cool. But I don't think I would do well in jail. Honestly though, I got more looks from middle aged women in the Corvettes, but really not that many. I think it takes a Ferrari or something like that to get womens attention today.

I'm not sure how to answer this since as a middle-aged guy, women seem to be more attracted to me when I'm riding my bicycle. Well at least it is an expensive titanium bicycle, does that count?

Run away!? More like drive away as quickly as possible in a cloud of smoke for at least 1/4mi! (if a 550 M sport)

If a woman (or a man) is interested in you because of the (expensive) car you drive, they are probably thinking you will make a good divorce settlement someday. That said, some are car people. If they come up to you and ask good solid questions, then they might just be interested/interesting. Women who are true car nuts though are few and far between.

Anyway, I am married and my even though Mrs. Stonehauler is not a car nut, she at least sees her car as more than something that gets her from point a to point b. That's good enough for me.

I've had some situations, one recently where a girl was practically hanging her head out the back window of a car, looking at me intensely in this seemingly interested way. I don't know if it was the car, if she found me blisteringly attractive, blisteringly ugly, or thought I'm a Celebrity while trying to figure out who, but I guess it applies.

Aside from that, I'm in a long term relationship so it certainly doesn't change my sex life (though the car has managed to give her jollies when I "vroom" it, which is a great feat, gotta respect the F10 N55 in accomplishing that). As for female and/or male attention, my actual life would get me more of that than a car. Plus, my car is very personal to me, I don't figure I put that "using it as a tool to get chicks/attention" energy out when I'm driving it. If anything, people probably are turned off if they see me enough with it, as they'll inevitably notice how obsessively devoted I am to keeping it clean and such (not really that "nonchalant/effortless" vibe in this particular case).

I am married as well, but I would be scared of any woman who was interested in me because I drove a nice car.

I am thankful that the Mrs. is tolerant of my car obsession...she likes nice vehicles as well, so it makes it somewhat easier.

Thanks for the responses guys. I completely agree with the sentiment to run away from any girl that likes you because of your job/car/status. I was just curious what others thought. I have no time for women right now anyway between studying and clinical research

Poll results were as predicted. Someone voted number 4 ?!?!?!

You'd be surprised...a lot of people keep there "preferences" to themselves, especially on the internet...or it could have been a woman voter...

Perhaps you need to add some elastic to your panties.

Women could care less.

Even with my Nissan GT-R, the only people I attracted more of were tween and teen rice boys.

This is when you tell them you baby sit for living and you get good pay that make you afford the 5er, I joked before with some chick when my E60 was new with a baby seat in the back saying that line. It's weird how people judge you sometime by the car you drive. People also thought I was selling crack when I was driving the E66 which was the only one in the company lot besides the CEO.
