Just picked up a 2003 530i!!!

Hey guys! This past Thursday, I picked up a real clean 2003 530i with 119k miles. I originally was looking for a 325i or 330i, but this 530 was too good to walk away from. The car is exceptionally clean for its age; so clean, it was at a Certified BMW dealer. All maintenance records (including replacing most if not all of the parts that typically go bad in the '03 e39). Anyway, I couldn't pass up the deal and drove it home that night. It's Alpine White with Sand interior. It's also got a 5-speed manual!

Thanks! I saw your posting, your car looks great too! The low mileage is definitely a plus, and a rare find. I'd prefer mine to be silver, but regardless, I've spent most of my time this weekend behind the wheel. I can't get enough! Haha

She is a nice clean looking car. What things were replaced and how good was the deal?
Love the white.

The only thing I can remember off the top of my head was that the Camshaft Position Sensor was changed. I'll have to look up the extensive report. All history is there since all maintenance was performed at the same dealership (Tom Bush BMW in Jacksonville, FL). It probably will continue to be serviced there since I'll be moving to Jacksonville this fall.

I got the car for KBB value (which IMHO is usually low), $9,100. Out the door, $10,300.

Congrats and good luck. I picked up my new 2003 530i on 12/13/02 and still get a thrill everytime I driver it. It only has 60K on the clock so it has a lot of life left in her.

Regards...JL

Yep, I would say you got a fair deal. That was a $50,000 car 10 years ago.
Enjoy the ride!

Man, 60k is nothing! Thankfully, the guy who owned the car before me took extremely good care of it. I was going to take some interior shots today, because for a 10 year old car with 120k miles on it, it looks almost in showroom condition. On the outside, there's maybe three small dings and one scratch. I seriously can't believe it's a 2003.

Wait what??? You picked up your 2003 with 60K on it, one year before it was manufactured?

Quick question... is there a replacement trim piece for the front bumper that can replace the license plate bracket? Or do you just remove the plate holder?

I just recently got a 97 528i with only 75k on it, it had been setting for 3 yrs but they put 4 new tires on it a new fuel pump in it and a new battery and I got it for 2500., Ive had to replace the neutral safety switch, and 2 window regulators but shes well worth it.I just had to promise to keep her and not turn around and resell her to make a profit.

Wow. Was it repainted or did the paint just hold up very well?

That's awesome man. Good luck with it! I'm jealous of your low mileage.

Production of model year 2003 cars began in September 2002. I placed my order in October 2002 and the 530i arrived at the BMW VPC - Port Elizabeth, NJ the first week of December 2002. I picked it up at the dealership on 12/13/02.

Thanks! I noticed in your signature it says you've done the Aux input mod to the 03 business radio. How difficult is that?

Yes there is. BMW part #51117005985. I got mine off eBay, but can be had from many sources. The piece with the plate holder snaps out and this new piece pops in the empty slot in the bumper. It comes primed and will need to be painted to match car color.

Here it is installed:

And great car, BTW, welcome!
