Thanks, I just bought one on ebay. It's just south of me in Sanford, FL so hopefully it'll be here by Tuesday or Wednesday. It sure cleans up the front of the car!

Thanks for the part #, I'm going to look it up. I miss the Bluetooth music streaming capability of the aftermarket headuint in my Tundra... an AUX input should make up for it.

Congrats and welcome. Relatively low volume example, a lot of manuals were sports. Looks great.

Suggest you study that maintenance list carefully -- lots of things should have been done by now on the car.

Enjoy!

Now, if you do:

1. Cooling Overhaul
2. Front Suspension Overhaul
3. Rear Suspension Overhaul

then you will love your car even more...

PS: Info on DIYs is in forum.

Nice and clean. Price is on the high side but 5sp is hard to find.

I'm sure I paid more because it was at a Dealership. But for how clean it is, I don't really mind. I wanted the 5-speed as well so that was a plus. I've got a window tinting appointment tomorrow, and I've ordered the front center plate delete and an OEM M5 spoiler. Both need to be painted but I'm *hoping* that won't be too pricey.

Well, my passenger seat has the twisting problem. Only the right side goes up. Not sure if I'll bother fixing it yet. I will be replacing the seat switch cover (just bought that on eBay for $15) because mine has a broken tab. If that requires moving the seat, I'll fix the twist issue.

Just had the window tinting done. I'm surprised this car never had it done, being in Florida it's whole life.

The more I've been looking, the more I wish I had waited for one with the sport package. I want the sport package steering wheel and front bumper like nobody's business. I'm also pretty sure I overpaid for my car, it's not even real leather and there is no bluetooth module in the trunk. Dealership told me a bunch of lies.

Other than that, I get the same big grin when I get behind the wheel. It sure is a blast to drive!

If I were you, I would be more concerned with car service history, as others pointed out.

In addition to what "cn90" suggested, which are A MUST if not done recently, you should certainly check whether CCV overhaul, oil filter housing gasket, vacuum hoses, fuel filter, motor and transmission mounts, differential fluid, spark plugs and valve cover gasket have been done/replaced in not so distant past. And while working on there, do check the condition of your DISA and clean the ICV. A quick glance at your guibo while doing the transmission mounts won't hurt either.

Quite a bit of fun work but well worth it

Hope this helps.

If there is one thing I'm certain about, it's the maintenance history. The p/o took it to the same BMW dealer he bought it from for everything. Still haven't had time to get the full service history, but after exam week that'll be a different story. I'm hoping everything has been done cause I'd like some mod money left over when I sell my Tundra.

Only euro 530i sports got the M-Tech front bumper. Bluetooth can be had easily enough by using a GROM adapter.

Finding a proper sport steering wheel for our cars is as simple as performing a diligent search on eBay. Just be sure to get the correct airbag for it as well.

To add on with Anothergeezer, most people end up replacing the suspension anyways on sports because it is not "low enough" or if you plan on redoing the struts, getting to the sport height is about the same cost as replacing the non-sport struts. The real bonus would be style-42 17" wheels, but at this age they will likely need reconditioning or 17" might be too small for your taste. The sport option is nice, but overrated since most everything gets replaced anyways when someone individualizes their car.

I probably will end up replacing my suspension with the sport suspension. I'm not into the low scene; coming out of a pickup truck that I was planning to lift, this car is low enough as is. I would only go up to 17" or 18" with the wheels, not into big flashy wheels either. I like the style 42s but I'm thinking some sort of 5 spoke because they're easier to clean.

That's a shame that the 530i sport didn't get the m-tech bumper in the US. Guess I should have gotten a 540i.

Re: Just picked up a 2003 530i!!!

Looked at the service history and the p/o spared no expense keeping this car running. Just in the last year, the cooling system was overhauled (including new water pump, expansion tank, and radiator). Oil was changed last month. A few seals were replaced (can't remember exactly which ones). New brake calipers all around too! Seat twist issue was fixed last year (but needs fixing again... FML). All said, I am glad I bought this car even if I slightly overpaid.

Yeah, I was up there yesterday making sure I was ready to transfer to UNF this fall. I passed on the wheels 'cause I'm cheap and didn't feel like dropping $400 on anything right now.

I just picked up a 2003 530i base model as well with 69,000 miles on it. Now it's a garage queen until my 2000 Toyota Camry LE with 317,000 miles on it dies. I don't see that happening soon. TacticalBassist looks like we need to find some new shoes for our 530i's. Congratulations on the new ride.
