time to build

HI all!

i was wondering... how long does it take the average M3 to go from the start of the build (not the time you ordered it but the time that building actually begins) until delivery to the dealership. i figured 6-8 weeks. but i saw someone on this forum is on week 15!

I know shipping and such can add some time but what is the average.

thanks

john

Will depend on how long it has to wait for a ship but to the East Coast would think 3-4 weeks. Actual build is only a few days, then to the port. Could sit there for one to two weeks then another week on the water. Shouldn't take more than a week from landing in the US to delivery...

While I haven't waited 12 years, it has been long enough. Mine was just completed and will be transported to the port of shipping. I am planning for mid May. What's another 3-4 weeks but I feel your pain.

What is your build? You may have stated this in a different post.

I just ordered a new one today. Sold my 2008 AW e90 last December. New build: Interlagos, bamboo, Carbon roof, 6MT, ZCP, Premium, Heated seats, Premium sound, Satradio, Apps. Once it is going though the build, I am planning on ordering Dinan exhaust, intake, software, pulleys, and pedals. Right now the jury is out on the BMW performance carbon fiber spoiler. Dealer said it should be about 8 weeks.

If someone said "build week 15", they probably meant that the allocation for their production slot was in the 15th week of the year. Actual production and QC takes only 4-5 business days.

Thanks for all the info! My build is
Space gray with base interior
Comp pkg
Nav
Heated seats
6 speed
Moon roof
Silver int trim

I wanted to keep the cost down so I chose my options carefully!

I feel your pain brother...

My first M3 was to be a e46 in 2002, but alas life happens. So I had a 11 year wait. Believe me when I say it, she was worth waiting for.
