2014 35i in Bronze Metallic Finally Arrived !!

My CA just called, the new X3 35i in Bronze Metallic hit the pavement in Jersey this afternoon, it was finished being built this past Saturday. That was pretty fast considering we placed the order on the evening of March 26th, roughly 22 days.

Will post pics once we pick her up tomorrow evening !

Looks awesome. I am planning to get that same leather and trim. What's your impression of the premium sound? Worth the upgrade? My dealer doesn't have any with that option.

Very sharp looking ride! Satin alu trim provides a nice contrast to the exterior color. The wave wood compliments the interior leather color very nicely.

And I see it is broken in...

...there's a quarter in the cup holder

Viel Spaß! (Have lots of fun!)

I spent a couple of hours one afternoon on the back lot sitting in two '13 X3 - one with premium and one without. Went back and forth between the two a couple of times. I brought by own music on a thumb drive to test the systems with.

The base system produces nice quality sound. The premium system has a few more speakers (16 vs 12), an equalizer, a stronger amplifier (600W total) and upgraded speakers. I noticed a more refined, nuanced and "complete" sound experience from the premium system than from the base system.

I did not test each out on the road at various speeds. I expect the difference to be less noticeable at highway speeds and certainly the difference would be completely gone with the windows and top open.

However, I spend time waiting for my wife to finish shopping at quilt stores, I figured it would be worthwhile for those times I listen to music while parked

Perceived audio quality is such a subjective and personal evaluation. My suggestion is to find a dealer with one of each on the lot and listen to them with your music.

if you listen music and all you ever adjust is base and treble, the premium sound system is a waste of money. however, if you hear music and enjoy tonal properties and customizing them go for the upgraded system. i have heard the standard stereo in a 3 series, a 5 series and the X5. the premimum system in my X3 blows them away.

Great car, looks very nice. the high frequency sound is very refined in H/K my experience from E90 H/K, of course bass is deep also, but playing same music in non H/K i feel more detailed sound in H/K. on base E90 MY 2008-09 the stock radio was worse BMW has produced so many people went for H/K. my 2011 E90 had H/K.

Great colour combination - shame you have to have orange front indicator lenses. We Brits are allowed clear lenses which look much better I think.

Interesting, it looks like they extended the width of the LCD display in the instrument binnacle. Mine (2011 model) only covers the mid/left hand side.

Also - do you get LED indicator lights on this new model? Looks like you don't, which puzzles me since most every other car has them.

Having said that, I'm not sure whether I like the immediacy of the LED on/off versus the old school pulse of the halogen (or whatever) bulbs ...

The LCD display panel is only like that if you have HUD on the 2014's. Otherwise, it is the same as in the past. There are no exterior changes from 2011-2014. The LCI will bring changes in 2015.

Interesting, I have the HUD on my 2011. I really love it. Now I'm super jealous because

a) You get more LCD screen estate :-)
b) I believe you get more information and coloring in the HUD now?

BTW, what is LCI?

I wanna say a 5% off msrp discount + any incentives that were at the time. I really don't know the exact number off the top of my head.

I do remember at the time, they were trying to unload the 2013's off the lots, so I really had no bargaining power on ordering a 2014.
