CD changer problems

I did a search but wasn't able to find a solution. Changer cassette goes in but does not get read, stays greyed out on idrive, door doesn't close , but cassette will eject. Tried most bus reset and that closes the door, but doesn't fix anything else. Any thoughts?

If you were in the UK I would offer to have a look at fixing it for you!

Myself and my flatmate have fixed a couple, and will look at them free of charge, but i would guess 2 way postage to the UK would be substantial.

Piers1989,

Being Alpine units, do they suffer the same common problem with the worm gear becoming jammed that actuates the loading mechanism? I believe there are a few tutorials/pictures of these being repaired on the net.

I have just got myself a DVD changer project, will post up the repair if all is successful!

With the one in my car it was the bar that runs the loading mechanism, the screws that hold it all together had fallen out entirley.

One we opened also had a damaged spring that holds the changer in place.

I did the face lift on my 05 and have a working 6 CD changer I took out. If interested, I can check to see if it works in your car.
