Selling our 2011 335 loaded Convertible

Hello all....

We have our 335i convertible for sale. Basically brand new with only 7k miles on it. Also has a $5000 dollars custom sound system installed all integrated into iDrive. Car has never sat outside, basically sat on our car lift most of the time. My wife put 2k miles on it this year. PM me or send me a message via cars.com is you are intersted. On a side note my local BMW dealer will run it through the dealership and I will pay the dealer fee and safety inspection.. that way you can get the lower interest rate if you purchased the car through the dealer...

Please post back what you get for it.

You may have to settle for much less but no harm asking for more. Recently I paid $31K retail for a 10.3K miles nudging the age of yours. It is a 328i but from what I saw after a few years 335i prices were often lower than 328i prices. Being fair that was more the case for ones with 40K+ miles.. used buyers likely do research into reliability which has hit used 335i values.

Also the new four series convertible is about to launch.

Was offer 45k from a dealer... my BMW dealer.... would not accept less than 49k for the car. Really comparing a 328 vs a 335 is really not a comparison. This was a 65k msrp car before the sound system....

Understand where you are coming from. I've owned seven BMWs and sold several under 20K miles due to moving abroad. Having owned the E90, E91, E92 and E93 + driven extensively in 335i and 328i (and 325!) guises I know they are basically the same, but can understand owners thinking differently. It just takes longer to find a buyer who will pay more for a used 335i. Higher specced cars attract new buyers much more than used buyer - there must a psychological study on that somewhere

Mine was approaching $60K new and sold for $31K with 10.3K miles. Higher priced cars depreciate fast.

Might be better off pulling anything custom off the car; it really puts of buyers. 99% want stock. I'd worry about anything that might mess up the fragile iDrive; in fact I walked away from any car that had iDrive as I plan to keep this car beyond the warranty period.

$45K without buying another car is a an insane offer. kbb.com says $34->39K.

Not sure what KBB you are looking at... but the values I am getting is 43k... perhaps you did not select convertible.... And actually the true test is Manheim, and the car is selling at auction for the low to mid 40's. A lot of dealers will put 45k on it because they know they can flip it fast at 49k. Also regarding 99% of customers wanting stock.... I tend to disagree. Why do you think dealers put custom rims, and such on a car... they move faster.

Dealer offered 30k on trade for my loaded 2008 335i E93, they are putting them on the lot for 34k.

KBB does seem abnormally low on a 2011 335 convert though - showing high 30's on trade in perfect condition - definitely is low.

Attached. In my experience Fair Value is what most places offer unless the know they can resell easily.

Seems about right for trade-in to me. Dealer will try to make $6K on resale.

Again... KBB is not a fair indication.. in fact dealers won't use it. Next time you are negotiating a deal, try brining in a KBB figure. Those figures are extremely low considering what is on the market. My number I got was 43k.. might be the region...

Yeah but 2014s are appearing everywhere about now for most manufacturers. No one wants a 2013, lol.

Mileage matter less than 'almost three years old' for higher priced cars. Selling a Civic it would get must closer to MSRP but at $60K plus car three years easily knocks $20K off the used values. I've bought/sold many cars and see it all the time. Mine will drop another $10K from $31K within two or three years time; BMW 3-er convertible depreciation finally slows down at about $20K.

It seems like you are the expert here.. you should go into the car business... maybe my BMW dealer (which I have purchased 17 BMW from in the last 6 years) could learn a few things from you... no offense.

There is a great local company in the Tampa area that does all high end cars. They did a killer sound system on my R8 and my friend Ferrari as well. So they are used to integrating everything and working with the fiber optic lines. We have not had any issues and my BMW dealership said they have no problems with covering issues under warranty. Really it is just speakers and a amp (although very expensive speakers) plus a couple of crossovers. It is not like they replaced the head.

GLWS, looks very nice. Have to agree with MP3, however, after doing some research, but hope you get what you want for it. I personally would jump all over that $45k offer from the dealer, but it's not my car. ha. Good luck!

Up until a couple of years ago KBB was insanely high on their values. Nice to see they are now a bit closer to reality.
