just got a set of used BMW wheels, stems and monitors gone, where is a good place to buy new ones, and do i need monitors

You very likely have FTM (flat tire monitor) which uses the ABS wheel speed sensors, not the TPM (tire pressure monitor) system which uses the sensors attached to the valve stems.

I think a few late build 2006 models had TPM but it is mostly found on 2007+ cars.

To check for sure go into iDrive:
iMenu > Vehicle Settings > and look for FTM or TPM menu options.

valve stems

My apologies for hi jacking this thread, but as you're own the topic I thought I would throw out my question here. I have an '07 650i. In my iDrive I see I have the FTM. All the other threads I've read about this including your comment here Yorgi, is that the '07's started to come with the TPMS. Was this an option in '07 or is it possible to have the valve's and transmitters installed on my wheels to have TPMS? Or possibly an iDrive update or upgrade?

I do have the TPM I was able to buy the modules that go withe the valve stems from tire rack for 200.00 for all four, how do they mount on the wheel, Im hoping that my local tire shop can install them on my whells and I can get them on the car........thanks for the info
