Thumbs up Accelerate faster with this mod!!!

Our cars takes a while to pick up the speed when we accelerate....... I just find out that there is a wire on the gas pedal and it takes a couple of seconds to send it to the computer.....

All modern BMW vehicles employ DRIVE BY WIRE technology meaning that the pedal when depressed, sends an electrical signal to your ECU that controls the throttle. This differs from older vehicles where the pedal is attached by cable directly to the throttle.

The problem with this new technology, is that the pedal will modify the input from your foot before forwarding the signal to the ECU. This signal is modified to add some delay from the time of input to throttle position change, it remaps the pedal depression to throttle opening to be non-linear (explained below) and it limits the throttle opening potential. These things are done to make the ride of the car smoother and less aggressive. This is done so that car manufacturers can get a higher approval rating from the majority of non performance-oriented consumers.

HERE IS OUR SOLUTION:
Sprint Booster Throttle Remapper

Definitely my next mod.....I need power when I push the gas pedal...

Punisher,
Now I understand how sport mod works on my i series. There is a big improvement in performance in sport mod. This would work along with the sport mod activated, I'm sure...
I'm going to do some research and most likely install one on my car. Thanks for the info.

Id like it more if it were "running"....but its back to "project stage" for now

Looks bad but its "done", jus gotta find time to put it all back together and shoot it

They really do...I usually make it a point not to endorse stuff (that I have no connection with) but I was really impressed

If they confirm my email in regards to the 8 series they have listed, Ill order one myself tonight

Both those cars look REALLY good. Would love to see a thread with pictures of all your cars.

Us that a custom paint on the 8? I really like it.

Doesn't "Sport" mode do the same thing? Sounds like all the mod does is permanently engage the sport mode "throttle" (I know, our 7's don't use a throttle) mapping.

Accelerate faster with this mod!!!

I have had the Sprint Booster on my car for about a year. It just makes the gas pedal travel shorter. It makes it feel like it has better throttle response.

Hey driftgirl, here is the thread you are looking for:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...481&highlight=

But to be honest your cars deserve there own thread. I have seen a few here and there on different threads, but would love to see all your work together. Needless to say you have put together some VERY nice and origional cars.

So now I'm confused, it does help or not? I have sport Mode but the only thing I noticed is the fast shifting every 2000RPMs

It basically just manipulates the throttle response in the same way that sport mode works. IMO not worth it, but I have read many people happy with them.

Hope I am describing it right, but you can google for a better answer.

Edit: shifting at 2k would be far from ideal.

Hello Ms. Emerald!

Thank you for the email. I apologize for the delay getting back with you. Unfortunately, the drive by wire system that the Sprint Booster supports was not released until 2001 so there is not a model available for the E31's.

I wish there were, I love those cars!

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best Regards,

Guess ill go the "chip route". theres a guy that builds 3 chip set (both ecu's and eml) for V12 E31's, but it locks the car in "Race mode"....I guess thats not a bad thing tho

Imagine your car with EXTREME SPORT MODE...WITH MUCH,MUCH FASTER THROTTLE RESPONSE.

Throttle control devices (such as these Sprint units) makes a car quicker...not faster. If u like jumping people at stop lights..It's well worth it

I'm confused also. I have Sport Mode, so it will improve on the performance in Sport Mode??? Make it even quicker? To me, Sport Mode is night and day. So much more fun to drive.
