Cool My new M3

Believe it or not, I just now hit 250 miles on the odo. I've been a good boy, never going past 4,500 RPM...

Jon, perhaps that I'll be stating the obvious but you need to drive your M3 more.

As a compliment to your M3, I have saved your image to use as my background.

Thanks! I know, I know. I live too close to work. The engine doesn't even have time to warm up...

So, as the engine warms up, do the stripes recede?

I'm in the same boat - short distance to work so the fun begins when I take the long way home. 1200 mile break-in is taking way too long...your new M3 is beautiful! It looks fast standing still and love the front CF splitters on the white!

Not health for the engine. Find a longer way to get to work.

Yeah, I have to say the stripes are growing on me. I like it!

The CF bits are neat looking, too.

Props to you on the choices, Jon.

Took some guts to go against the grain. Not to mention a deep wallet.

Growing on you?? Lol... I love looking at that picture. Those stripes on. That White M3 look awesome. I think they will grow on anyone that keeps looking at that picture I spent like 5 minutes just looking at that picture. Makes me want to sell my 09 M3 and buy 2013 model M3 in white and get those stripes put on there

Thanks for the compliments. It's so amazing how it came to be. One night while my order was in 150 status I was surfing the German BMW website for the M Performance accessories, and I saw a picture of an Alpine White M3 with these stripes. Out of all the Bimmerfest events since E92 M3 was launched, I'd never seen anything quite like it -- a hommage to lots of other of my favorite Bimmers (E36 M3 LTW, CSL "Batmobile", ...etc.). I posted a couple of images here and on the Bimmerfest FB page and got mixed reviews at best. I waited a few weeks and then had my Parts Mgr. see if he could even get them here. He found the part number and said he could and for a few weeks I just contemplated. When the car was on the water I sent an email to a friend at BMW and inquired about the possibility of VDC install, just wanting to know the price really. They sent me a message back a week later saying they got it handled, the stripes would be installed for me at the port (but neglected to tell me how much). Even though they jumped the gun a bit, I stayed in contemplation mode. Then, a day before the car hit the port I went into the BMW Dealer Ordering System and tried to cancel the stripes. I got an error message that said, sorry, the PIA items ordered were no longer cancel-able. Oh well, I am an owner I thought. A couple of days later a buddy at the VDC sent me the photos of the car while the stripes and CF bits were being installed and I liked what I saw. When the car arrived at the dealership, everyone was excited to tell me that my new car had arrived and that it looked really cool. Even now when I post a photo of it on FB page, some kids say some really rude and nasty comments, but everyone who sees the car in person is blown away (looks better than in the photos). I now have my first mod planned, getting a RPi exhaust custom made next week! I said the same thing with my last M3, but I swear, this will be the only mod!

I think it looks awesome I was debating about selling my 09 M3 and getting the new Cayman S but now I am debating about getting one just like yours. I really like it. With the Cayman S you get a much better interior with sexy stylin but much less horsepower. Dropping from 414 HP to 325 HP seems like a step back for me. I one spends most of the time in the city then I guess the Cayman S might be better as it is more fuel efficient and comes with a nicer interior but on the highway the V8 with 414 HP has the advantage if you spend more time on the highway and those stripes on that white M3 really look good.

Do they look like stickers on there from up close? From the distance you posted the pictures they almost look like they were painted on from the factory. Thanks...

Only bad thing aoudad the M3 compared to the Cayman S is how it drinks fuel lol.. For me it seems like I am always at the next gas station refilling that tank back up again.

Jon, did you lease this or buy this? How long is your lease for???? Maybe the lease gods will align and I can take this baby off your hands at lease end! It is the hottest looking M3 I've ever seen. Congrats!

Thanks everyone. The stripes don't scream out "decal"; look like they are painted on... As duly noted, my only complaint is the fuel economy. Thankfully I drive so little I hardly notice..

I do plan on purchasing it off lease and keeping it for many years (until I retire or longer). My E36 M3 is 14 years old, and I like this car better...

Drive it a little more and you will definitel notice it (fuel consumption) lol.. I had expected it to drink more but fuel after a few months I was like WTF?? Everything about the car is near perfect except the fuel economy and weight. In the city you feel the weight of the car but on the highway it feels right at home.

This was sort of one reason I kind of liked the Cayman S which gets around 28-30 MPG but has about 89 less HP

Perfect M3 would be if it came in a bit lighter (like -400 lbs.) with a more efficient engine and a bit more torque (I'm dreaming)
