Engine air filters

I have a 2008 328xi sedan. 31,000 miles. I want to replace the engine air filter with a K&N air filter but I have heard conflicting reviews on this issue. Does anybody have any educated thoughts on this. I'm sorry to bring up something that I'm sure has been discussed before...but I thought this request might save some time searching and receive a more up to date response. Any help would be much appreciated.

OP,
You're right in that it has been asked before. Here's a post where a 335 owner asked the same:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=503916

Results from that thread were underwhelming results. If anything, there's more risk vs reward. I speak not of personal knowledge, but by answers to the other poster's question. To search on your own, try the google search bar at the top right of the screen. It'll search through bimmerfest for related threads.

Good luck!

You can buy my K&N air filter and risk a $500 repair bill to the MAF sensor.
