Trans. Safe Mode

Hey guys I have a 2001 X5 3.0 - I was at the mechanics & the only code that came up was my Camshaft Position Sensor. I have not changed it yet. My car drove for about 4 days until suddenly the car went into trans safe mode. When I start it it shakes hard, but the trans safe light is off. Then I let the car warm up & it was running normal & then the car went into trans safe mode again, Won't let me get over 2000rpm & goes about 25mph. Tops! In reverse the truck drives perfect, Any suggestions? I am waiting for both camshaft sensors to come in the mail tomorrow, I'm going to change them both out & see what happens cause those are the only codes that come up, I don't even have a check engine light on, Please Help!!!
