looking at bmw 3 series

i'm new to bmw.
Could you guys give me some ideas on how much 2010- 2012 bmw 335i used go for? is there a manufacture year that need to be avoided?

i did some research and noticed that there are quite a bit of problems with 335i.. such as brake boost. Is it worth buying a bmw that does not have warranty?

thank you guys

DON'T DO IT!

Lord-a-mercy, man! You may as well set tooth to an apple in the Garden of Eden. You'll have your ride no more than a week when the bug will bite.

Mods. That's what I'm talkin' about.

Do you have savings? Is your income high? Not enough! $5K just for parts is only a beginning....so many of us have fallen....

i see that BMW parts are pretty expensive. Most of the BMW owners i know say that not to buy a bmw unless it has warranty. I kind of understood why after reading all the problems it has haha.

what is the best manufacture year to buy used for how much?

Hey Waterboy are those blinders on your eyes in your picture? Are you saying don't buy a Bimmer without a warranty unless you have deep pockets? Being a 2 Benz owner and a soon to be a bimmer owner that has been my general experience. However if you follow the maintenance schedules and pay the $1000 every time the car darkens the door of the Benz shop you do avoid the real expensive services. I would think a Bimmer is no different?

Consumer Reports breaks down each model year by reliability, though I'd question stats on recent models only because it often takes a few years for defects/weaknesses to manifest themselves.

If reliability is paramount, and you still want a BMW, you'd be better off sticking with a 328i, which appears to be the most reliable model. It also potentially offers slightly better handling than 335, but slower in straight line acceleration.

I had issues (now resolved) with the RFTs and the sports suspension on NYC roads but the 335i has been very reliable and in spite of the fact that it is a convertible that has been beat up on NYC roads it is rattle free after 6 years.

No idea.. Look if you go in with an idea of I'd say +/- 5k you'll probably be a very happy driver if you've done your HW.

These cars can bend you over the table if you get a dud or one thats been abused (especially if you rely on the dealer), but I truly believe they are for the most part more than capable of out preforming the horror nickel and dimming that gets reported on the forums.

I've leased for 42 months 2009 335I Cab....problems? HPFP both replaced, water pump went after 6 months and had to replace run flats probably about 6 or 7 times...too many times to count. Despite all that love the ride....bought out the lease (over my Km's), and waiting for the new 4's. But I did buy a 60k extended warranty and a tire warranty. So if you're going to get a 335 strongly suggest on these warranties. I've also heard less problems with the 328 since no turbo but you lose a lot of power.

NOSUH!
What you see is the earliest known electronic virtual reality device known to man. 'Way back in the early 60's, that fearless, irradiated adventurer invented the very first wearable television.

Talk about foresight! Here in Silicon Valley, wearable electronics are common as dirt. But there once was a time when moving or even maintaining a television was a character building experience, requiring brawn or a trip to the Philco tube tester, respectively.

Ah, the days when men were men. To wit: Google Glass.

DIY, the last refuge of red blooded masculinity!

If you buy used, CPO gives peace of mind. If you drive Benz, BMW maint cost is of no concern. If you buy new, you got no maint cost.

But if, on the other hand, you got the guts, 335i's DIY paradise!

And as for this, nope!

Sayin' it won't be long. No, not long....you'll want more. More, do you hear? More power: easily available....better ride: readily achieved....cornering grip beyond belief: can do!

Lookin at bmw 3 series

This probably wont help much, but I just bought a 2011 335i. I owned two C6 Corvettes prior the BMW. Having the experience of owning 2 high performance cars has taught me keeping the vehicle maintained per maintenace schedule is critical. In doing so will lessen chances of something braking prematurely

Could unintended deceleration be the next big thing?

looking at bmw 3 series

2007-2010 are the N54 engine, meaning 2 smaller turbos. 2011-2013 is the N55 engine, meaning 1 big turbo. Whatever you want. N55 won't have as many problems, but is harder to modify. N54 timing goes amuck after some years and can get pricey but is also REALLY easy to mod to get lots of horsepower. Whatever you want.

I just bought a 2011 335i in the SE after looking around for about two months. As for pricing, minus dealership fees, taxes, title, 35-37K, with Prem Package, SE, and sometimes Nav for 2011. These are vehicles with 30k miles or less. You could also find CPO's around $37K. If you go to an non-BMW dealership, they were a little less.

As for reliability, mine is under warranty (10K), and I WILL be buying an extended warranty as well.

Damn, I have expensive tastes. I care but I don't care I just love high-in automobiles and the costs to maintain and repair is Irrelevant.

I don't know about you guys but I take much better care (keeping clean and maintaining) my benz's than any other cars I have ever owned.

Buy a 335i and enjoy.
