Identify this for me

Anyone know what this is? Doesn't look like it's in good shape and I'd like to replace it:

Are you talking about the thing the sensors are screwed into, or the sensors themselves?

The thing they are screwed into is the thermostat housing. The sensors are the engine coolant temperature sensor (tells the ECU what temp the coolant is) and the coolant temp sensor (feeds the temp gauge in the instrument cluster).

I have an been trying to figure out what's on the other side of the housing. I now know that the one with the yellow top and two prong terminal is a seperate temperature sending unit, but I can't figure out what it sends a signal to. The other has a VDO stamp on it, but I don't know what it is and I can no longer read the numbers on it to reference. Any one have any ideas ? I would upload pics, but I can't for some reason....

The temp. sender would be #15 in hornhospitals link, the other switch/sender/sensor is #16.

Any help would be appreciated

The 35*C 8 second sensor is the cold start injector timer/sensor. If the coolant temperature is lower than 35* C, it fires the cold start injector for 8 seconds when the key is turned from off to run/start. There are different temperature and time sensors available. They are explained in the Bentley Manual. If you don't have that manual, you need one. The other two I already explained..... one tells the ECU what the coolant temperature is, and the other operates the instrument cluster gauge.

Re: Identify this for me

Thanks for the info, and you're right, I do need to get a bentley manual. Would it also explain to me what the yellow top temp. sender goes to ? I've been running a bit warmer than normal, but I'm not sure. The gauge will go up to about halfway, I'll tap the cluster a few times and it goes back down. I'm thinking a bad connection somewhere, but new switches and sensors can't hurt
