Transmission reprogram

I have a 2005 BMW 745i and I have been having problems with the transmission feeling jurky when car is going 40 MPH like it is upshifting and down shifting at that speed. But when I perform the turn the car ignition on without starting and holding the gas paddle to the floor for 45 seconds it goes away but comes back within a couple days....any ideas!

Hi,

Are you able to read any error codes from the EGS? When your at constant speed you get jerking? sounds like torque converter lock-up issue. Hard to tell, the gearbox shift strategy is highly influenced by the DME engine load calculations, a dodgy engine sensor can throw things in the EGS and cause all sorts of issues.

I understand the later software updates 'ignored' or validated some DME data because of this problem, If no codes are stored in the EGS then the EGS must think everything is OK, this means the DME is sending incorrect load data via the PT-CAN to the EGS. Do you have any other drivability issues? lagging in gears sluggish acceleration low mpg etc?...

Stuart
