Mein Auto: 2014 X3 M-Sport
'13 M-Sport 3.5 w/ 20k miles

Hi All --

I've been hanging around and reading for the past few weeks and appreciate all the free advice. Figured it was time to solicit my own specific commentary.

After driving a bunch of smaller SUVs, I'm totally sold on the X3. The trouble is that deciding to get an X3 leaves one with a set of daunting options. I was looking at getting a new '14 2.8 and restricting the packages a bit from my ideal (which is adding just about everything) to keep the price under $50k (kind of arbitrary, but trying to set limits somewhere). Today the sales guy offered me a chance to drive 3.5 M-Sport that they had on the lot today. Like an idiot, I did it. Now I want it. Prem, Tech, M-Sport, Cold I+II, HUD, Sat, Apps.

Trouble is, I'm really not sure how to think about the price. New this would be $57,425/$53,315. The thing that's throwing me is that it's got nearly 20k miles, they're selling it as "new" as an "executive demo," and they're trying to get me at $53,888 with what remains of the orignal warranty (starting date 8/1/12, giving me ~3yrs/30k) or $54,388 to add BMW gold for 6/100k.

Some help me make sense of this? I was having trouble negotiating because I didn't even know what was reasonable myself.

Thanks!

dan

seems too much $$. maybe if it was CPO with the 100k warranty. I just purchased a loaded '14 X3 35i M Sport and paid 54.5.

That makes it seem like a really terrible deal, which I kind of suspected. Thoughts as to what would be a reasonable price?

it should either be CPO, Demo sales should be under 6K miles, BMW will not let them sell is as executive demo. It is terrible deal to begin with. I would suggest go to another dealer he is trying to take unfair advantage of you. it should be at least 10 K lower than MSRP and sold as CPO, consider you will have 30 K miles left on warranty for that marginal money off.

Awful deal. Just buy a new one or continue looking at used elsewhere.

My dealer showed us a '12 X3 that had the options I wanted for about $45K...don't recall the mileage. I politely declined and ordered a MY14 car.

I can offer some input. I bought a CPO loaded 2011 X3 35i MSport in the Boston area. We paid ~$42K all in one year ago. It had 18K miles. I didn't think it was a great deal - but it was the EXACT colors, etc. I wanted.

I'd shop around, or get them to CPO it and try for $45K personally.

Thanks for that. I do dig this setup and was thinking $45k with the warranty would be more comfortable.

They're offering you $500 over invoice with 20K on the clock! Many people on this forum could have gotten that same quote when it was new. I don't know what I'd offer them, but it would be well south of 50K.

Thanks for the reality check guys. Just ordered a loaded '14 for $200 over invoice with really favorable terms on the lease. Glad I found this board before making a deal rather than after!
