Saving music on HD

Hi,
May have been asked before but I cannot find anything on this...

It says in the manual that you can save MP3's on the internal HD. I've formatted a USB stick and put some songs on it but the car cannot read it???

Anyone done this and could give me some tips or if it's been discussed before point me to the thread.

Much appreciated.

Rob

Go to music collection, press options, and "Import music from USB".

You can only have the USB stick in the glovebox for this. I'm assuming you have iDrive, of course.

I had the same issue with it not recognizing the USB drive, ended up having to reformat USB to FAT32 in order for it to recognize.

Forgive me if I am overly simplistic, but you do know that you can only play songs with the armrest USB and only import with the glovebox, right?

perform a complete format on the USB stick instead of "Quick format" and that may help.

A suggestion (only cuz i made this mistake), don't try and close the glove box with the USB plugged in. it'll break like mine did when i was foolish enuff to reattempt closing the glove box becuz it wasnt closing with the USB in it :P

Hi guys...thx for you help so far.
Yea I know play on armrest and import from glovebox...
I think I have another issue.
I have the iDrive jobbie (2012 320d with innovations and a few other goodies)
What I don't seem to have is the option to save the music?? I don't have music collection menu and I can't seem to save a CD contents either...maybe my car isn't fitted with this feature?
I'll try a clean format of the USB but I'm not sure it'll help.

I think that the Business Nav (6.5" display) does not have HDD. Only the Professional Nav (8.8" display) has the HDD.

I would think they would have the HDD option standard with any version. Business or not business...a good music collection is never a waste.

USB formatted FAT32 - plugged into glovebox USB - navagate to external device - then press the "option" button on the console below the iDrive wheel. You should get the option to import. The same for importing from a CD or DVD. I went through the same thing on my 11' 328i.

If you read the other replies, we established that he doesn't have the hard drive option.

If you read the replies it was only estblished as a possibility.
To me it seems logical that if the USB exists in the glove box and he has Nav, its likly there is an HDD. Didnt mean to sound brusk.
