KA, I bet they still have the same rattles and smell like a plastic factory. Benz hasn't fixed the multiple rattle issues from the introduction of the W212--I doubt this would be any better.

I am coming from a 2009 mb e550. Did not get a 2013 because only available in all wheel drive. My 550i has msport and adaptive and is the best suspension I have ever had. When mb took away their two wheel drive and air suspension they lost a 30 year customer!!

I just got out of an E350(2012). Now I'm driving a 535i with the m package and the ride is soooooo much better than the E class. Also I find it quieter. Was the 2014 a quiet ride ???

I am also from LA and have no need for AWD. Stupid move by MB to make the AWD standard on the E550. There's 2 customers they lost.

I must have a defective 2012 E350. Why. Because it has no rattles in 11 months of ownership and it rides better than our 2012 535. It must be a fluke!

Probably. While I have never owned an E, I have driven them. Every time I walk away from one, I say to myself, "If I were to consider buying that car, I might as well buy a nice Honda Accord and save the money." I have been that unimpressed.

So the comments on this thread about the E have resonated with me.

The GL is a different story however. I'm surprised there is such a great disparity in the quality of the products offered by MB. The GL is every bit as fantastic as any SUV or minivan I have driven or owned. Not the E.

Really surprised they got rid of the arch above the rear wheels!

Wonder what prompted it; did they conduct a poll of customer sentiment?

Gave the car a semi american muscle / retro look. Worked great, as it does on the CLS and Bentley GT too...

Does anyone know the proper styling term for the arch?

Can't wait to see the new S-Class!

What I have learned from my W163 98 ML320 ownership is that there are no rattles that a good roll of felt tape can't fix.

Worked like a charm on my E350 Bluetec when the A-pillar trim was rattling over the crappy LA roads.

I am most likely going to get the E250 Bluetec Luxury and swap out the wheels when my current one is due. I prefer to keep both brands in the garage so I can benefit from Conquest Cash Bonus

+1 I didn't even notice that at first, good eye; I agree, it looks much nicer with it, without it the rear sides look plain.

Just wait how many customers they will loose when they are going to be dropping the E550 all together.

Thank you. I always wondered something was amiss with the GS. Now I get it.

My 2 W212's had massive rattles, however they'd come and go. I even went as far as to call my 2011 a "potential rattle trap" at some point. My F10 has no rattles at all right now, hoping it stays that way.

Oh man, no comparison, huh. My E's were excessively floaty over turns and excessively harsh over rougher patches. The F10 is MUCH quieter than the E (and turns much better.... imagine that, BMW just has M-B's number on suspension/chassis dynamics right now). Not only did my E's let in lots of road noise, especially over certain patches I drove over which were very harsh in that car, an literally UNNOTICEABLE in my F10 (even with RFT's on this car, amazing how coddling this chassis is), but the F10 let's in less wind noise, and one big thing I noticed from driving the 2014 was how loud the engine was in the car (pretty good sounding engine though), whereas with the 535i the interior literally drowns out any engine noise. You can hear the sublime growl of the N55 when pressing on it, but it's very "muted", while very transparent in the E350. You have to roll the windows down in my F10 to truly hear the exhilarating N55 sound.

The '14 rode exactly the same to me, however I didn't get to any real testy roads. I'm sure it drives as good as any E if not slightly better as one would expect they'd improve NVH after so many complaints there.

Yeah, stupid move to change it. Yeah, I loved that "Retro/American muscle-y" type look it gave my W212's, as on that particular design, such a flavor was necessary to make it interesting. The car is angular, brutal almost, it's not "pretty" and not supposed to be. That fender "swoosh" just aided that kind of caricature effect. The new "straightening it out" not only doesn't make sense, but looks like they're trying to disguise the inherent character of the car. You can't make this design "pretty", it's not not meant to be that way, and there lies the discordance with the facelift. Should have just kept it unapologetically angular and butch all around.

Not sure what every maker calls their "humps", but M-B's calls theirs a "Ponton" hump because the original M-B that carried it was actually called the "Ponton". Back in like the '30's or 40's or something.

The first batch of pics I screenshot off of a Youtube video, and the second batch came from a Dealer. IMO the pre-facelfit really outshines it on a holistic, thought-out basis, and if it were hypothetically kept generally similar with just a few of the facelifts tweakings, it would have been an ideal balance for this particular chassis:

And some more I screenshot off of a Youtube vid:

Wow !! I thought that Mercedes would improve on the road noise on the new E. My 2012 E had a lot of road and wind noise and I hated it for that. I mean don't get me wrong the E never gave me any problems but it didn't drive like a luxury car to me and that's why I got rid of it on swap a lease.

The more pictures I see of the redesign E-class, the more I see what a mess that front end is. The rear of the car is about the same as the pre-refreash design, very Japanese looking and very boring, the front end I have yet to find the appropriate adjustive for it yet, maybe you guys can help me
The A5 is one of the nicest design I have seen in recent years, I am happy to say that in the first post, the F10 look just as nice park next to the A5.

After looking at those side-by-side pictures, I have to agree. The front looks bad. The new headlights are especially horrific. They look like they were ripped straight off the front of a Nissan or Kia concept vehicle; very much Japanese styling. And the after market-esque bottom lip is simply pathetic.

The modifications to the rear add nothing.

Now, I will give it one positive. I like the grill on the front more because it follows the styling of the grill on most of their other vehicles. But that's the only positive I'll give it.

The front end of the facelift W212 is a disaster. At least for that ridiculous sport star grill. How that passed the final design approval is beyond me. I can see current W212 owners holding on to their rides a bit longer.

wow looking at those side by side shots i really feel bad for those MB sales people now lol

The old one looks more classy and refined compared to the new one. Interiors looks the same to me.

Maybe it will fetch more during trade-in if everyone wants the prelift W212, then I can get my 320i/ZMT/ZSP canyon carving machine.
