Holy Zaino Batman!

Well after several recommendations from this forum, I went ahead and ordered a couple bottles of the Zaino leather cleaner and conditioner for my F10.

All I can say is wow!

I started with the cleaner, simple spray on/off. Cleaned the leather interior (including steering wheel) in about 10 minutes.

I then applied the conditioner. It has the consistency of hand lotion. Light coat to wipe on/off. All leather treated in just 10-15 minutes. Minimal drying time.

Some observations.

1. The aroma of Zaino once applied smells like new leather. It is like driving a new car again.
2. Zaino is not oiley/greasy. Restores leather back to the factory matt finish.
3. My steering wheel looks brand new. You remember the look of your steering wheel when your car was new? Clean, uniform matt finish. That's what I'm talking about.

I have never used a product like Zaino before but it has by far blown away any other leather cleaner/conditioner I have ever used.

Try the products for the outside of your car. I have never had so many compliments on the appearance of a vehicle as I have had since using Zaino.

Had one compliment from the husband of a woman who works with me, and he is an auto detailler!

Holy Zaino Batman!

Z9 and Z10 are excellent. I don't think Z10 smells like a new BMW. It's sort of artificial new car smell but it isn't foul. It def cleans well and leave a matte smooth finish.

Big Zaino fan - love their Leather in a Bottle too. Also been very happy with their Grand Finale and Clear Seal products - they really make the car "pop" after it's been detailed and polished.

get closer to what? new car smell? No. Zaino Z10 smells much better, but leatherique is more effective. Leatherique also take 20x more effort. When I used leatherique and people got in the car after doing it, they commented the car smelled like "old man". After using Z10 most people would say oh it smells new.

Thanks. Just ordered the Z-9 and Z-10 based on your post.

You had written prior that Z-10 doesn't smell like a new BMW but I was looking for that new car leather smell, which I had read somewhere else that leatherique has.
Old man smell? Let's see what Zaino is like.

Taken from an iPhone, so not that great of a pic.

I used the Z9 (cleaner) and Z10 (conditioner) products.

According to Zaino's site, the Z10 product has leather oil extract which gives it the new car/leather smell.

Having used Lexol in the past, I could not stand the oily foul smell.

I can't comment on Leatherique as I never tried it. But there are many posts about the "old man" smell. I guess this to mean it smells more industrial which is I why I don't care how good it is. If I can't tolerate the smell it is pointless. Somebody did point out it takes 10x more effort to apply. I have no idea why.

Looks good! Were there some oily / shiny areas on the wheel before?

Yes, mostly dirt, scuffs, etc. which are all gone.

I was able to drive the car immediately and it did not feel like it was slippery or anything.

It smells worse and takes more time and effort to apply because it is designed to deeply restore severely damaged and cracked leather. It's not necessarily for day to day cleaning of your leather. It is designed to soak into the leather, to literally soften the hide at a molecular level and to push dirt and contaminates out to the surface. This takes a while, but it does amazing things.

Honestly, it's unnecessary for most applications that people use it. On a newer car, it's really should only be used once a year to keep your leather moisturizered and clean down in the fibers of the hide. Zaino is a great product to use in the meantime.

And yes, it does smell a bit because it has natural leather oils in it. If you have ever conditioned your baseball glove or walked into a tack shop, you will recognize the smell.

It does not sound like Leatherique is really well suited for modern "sealed" leather that is in most new cars.

Maybe older unsealed leather on sofas, charis, etc.

I do know that any conditioner that needs to "soak" into leather can cause more issues by over-conditioning the leather thereby causing more damage. You have to be careful with the application.

No, it will still work. Sealed or not. But honestly, it's not really the product for just cleaning your leather.

Holy Zaino Batman!

I actually use the Z9 and Z10 on my leatherette. Everyone thinks I have leather (even without the nice leather smell)

I used to apply the whole Zaino shebang to the outside of my vehicles but man, it is a whole day or two affair. Since I've had kids there is definitely no time for this so I want to some simple carnaubas. Unfortunately, I also pay this guy and his sons to wash my car every two weeks which is actually a very nice detail for $20. it's a much better job then I would do in half the time.

Anyhow, sorry to go OT
